At a glance:

These classic muslins look and feel beautiful. The designers behind Aden + Anais have created some really beautiful looking muslins, that keep their quality no matter how many times they go through the wash!

What they say:

“For generations parents have cared for babies with muslin. The aden + anais swaddle's generous size of 120cm x 120cm and 'natural give' of the material make swaddling easy. The breathable fabric helps reduce the risk of overheating, while the signature prints complement a mum's style. The aden + anais 100% cotton muslin swaddle is versatile and is used as pram, nursing or changing mat cover, burp cloth or tummy time blanket. Due to pre-wash it's soft and stays that way wash after wash. The aden + anais award-winning swaddle sets standards and makes parents' lives simpler.”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This product is amazing, and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. It is easy to use and very soft, and the instructions on the box are easy to understand. The designs are very cute, and are also a very good size compared to others I’ve tried, meaning these have durability, and will last a lot longer than other ones on the market

How did the product make your life easier?

My little girl was very poorly when she was born, and loves to be swaddled from being in intensive care, so this product will actually be a godsend for me, as it’s very easy to use due to the instructions on the box, and washes very well. The breathable fabric also means that they dry really quickly which, as a mum of two young children, is a must given the amount of washing I do day to day.

I have tried other swaddled blankets in the last ten weeks since my baby was born, and found some with double the material of this one that, ultimately, didn’t stay in shape as much as these do. The price is also amazingly cheap. I have been paying this amount for one, never mind four, so would definitely recommend this item to other mummies without doubt.

What changes would you make to the product?

There isn’t really anything I would change about this item, apart from possibly making them more of a presence in the market, as until I received them to test, I’d never heard of this brand before. The packaging is lovely, so overall this item gets my full approval. That, and my two-year-old also loves to sit with one wrapped over her, so it’s a definite thumbs up from us both!

Tested by mum Chloe Clark for the Mother & Baby Awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would 100% recommend this product, as I think that they are great value for money compared to other swaddles (being very affordable at £15 for four) especially as they have different uses for when baby grows out of a swaddle. I also love the different designs on each swaddle, and the size and quality of the material of the product is great!

How did this product make your life easier?

This product is the best swaddle I have tried, as not only can it be used as a swaddle, but it also has other countless uses, such as a breastfeeding cover or a light blanket. I love the size of the product as it makes it very easy to use as a swaddle (and comes with instructions, if needed) and has also made breastfeeding out and about much easier to cover up.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would definitely choose this product. I think the big size of the swaddle and the breathable material was a great selling point to me. I love the fact that the swaddle has different uses. The designs on the swaddles are very attractive, along with the packaging that they come in. My baby also loves the material and likes to use them as a snuggle blanket in bed.

What changes would you make to this product?

I love everything about this product and so does my baby, so I wouldn’t change anything. However, if there were to be any other designs available other than the box that I am reviewing, then I would purchase those as well.

Tested by mum Jolene Clarke for the Mother & Baby Awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I couldn’t recommend this product enough, so much so that I've decided to order more! The design is just fantastic. The patterns are stunning and there is so much variety to chose from. When I left the house I had so many compliments on the swaddle blanket itself, and loads of people asked where you could get them. It's so soft, and the fabric is lovely too, even when washed.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product has six different uses; it can be used as a burp cloth, a tummy time blanket, a nursing cover, a pram cover, a changing mat cover and finally, a swaddle. In the time testing this product I used it for all of the above and felt it made it so much easier to leave the house with one of these swaddles, with the durability of meaning rather than taking a number of things with me, I only had to take one!

Would you choose this product to win?

I would. I felt the quality of this product was fantastic, as well as all the beautiful patterns/designs you can choose from! The breathable cotton fabric was perfect for swaddling and my newborn never felt over heated whilst wrapped up in this. Even after washing it still stayed as soft. Along with this, the versatile use of this product was fab, and I felt very comfortable using it as a nursing cover when out and about because of its large size.

What changes would you make to this product?

I couldn't really think of anything I would change, as I felt the product ticked so many boxes, however, though there is such a large range to choose from and they are all very beautiful, the only thing I could probably suggest is a brighter range of colours, as they are all very subtle in both colour and the overall design.

Tested by mum Megan Greenshields for the Mother & Baby Awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, most definitely. What impressed me most was their size, which made swaddling my little girl much easier, meaning I settle her into her crib without messing about too much. The breathable fabric allowed my daughter to stay cosy throughout the night, and allowed her to move around enough that she didn't feel trapped, but not so much that she wriggled out of the swaddle. I could easily fold these swaddles up so that I could fit them into her changing bag, keeping the bulk to a minimum.

How did this product make your life easier?

Wow, these swaddle blankets are fantastic. With their generous size I found them to be the best in the market. They’re a very versatile product, as they can be uses as a swaddle, muslin, playmat, nursing cover, and anything else you can think of really, due to its soft, dynamic fabric. The fabric design was another feature that I loved about these swaddles, as they featured lovely, girly designs, suitable for anyone's princess!

Would you choose this product to win?

YES YES YES! This product is so well made. It is very versatile, meaning I didn't need to carry extra things with me when going out. My daughter seemed to like this swaddle too, as she slept better when swaddled in the blanket. This product definitely helped settle my little girl into a warm, happy and secure sleep, and she slept much better when we started using them.

What changes would you make to this product?

I really found this product to be very, very well made, and find it hard to think of anything to change. Possibly making the fabric design reversible would give parents more variety. I loved using these swaddle blankets and always use them before the other blankets we have, even now.

Tested by mum Laura Colwill for the Mother & Baby Awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, in fact, I already have! The size of the swaddle and its versatility has been fantastic, especially as a breastfeeding mother. I am now much more at ease when feeding out in public. The pattern on the fabric is beautiful, and I especially like the lion one. It folds into nothing, making it nice and compact when in the changing bag. The product has also washed very well, and is still dry and soft to the touch.

How did this product make your life easier?

It has made all aspects of parenting easier, whether it's just swaddling him to put him down for a nap in the day, using it on the floor for tummy time, or when breastfeeding my baby! I now can't leave the house without one in my changing bag! I can even get chores done during the day when he is swaddled and having a nap, which I was finding impossible before!

Would you choose this product to win?

I have purchased different swaddle blankets and muslin squares and this product outperforms any others I have tried, by far! I highly recommend these swaddle blankets to new parents, and can't now imagine not using them! I'm looking forward to discovering other products in the Aden + Anais range in the very near future!

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think I am able to fault anything about this product, from the size to the softness of material, even to the pattern! The product is very versatile and washes well! We also do lots of skin to skin with it, and the fabric is very gentle on his skin.  Every parent of a newborn baby should have one!

Tested by mum Kayleigh Thomas for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The Aden + Anais Swaddle is fantastic. I have used other swaddle blankets and have found this to be the best. Its large size allows my long baby to fit snug into it and allowing plenty of growing room. Following the instructions, I washed this product before using it and found it to be much softer following its first wash. The swaddle blanket is very easy to fold and transport around and can even be used as a general blanket to comfort my little one.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Aden + Anais Swaddle is very easy to use and very easy to transport around. My 3 month old son does not like being swaddled and despite using other products, this is the better one. However my son likes to spread out when asleep and feels restricted when swaddled. The product can be used as a blanket and the material is very lightweight and therefore this is why it’s an excellent product.

Would you choose this product to win?

This product is excellent. I think the material really helps it stand out from the rest because it’s really comfortable and lightweight, particularly for hot, summer nights.

What changes would you make to this product?

I'm not certain I would change anything about this product. I would happily purchase this swaddle for an expectant/new mum with no hesitations especially for spring/summer babies. The design of the swaddle is really appealing and nothing like I have seen before.

Tested by mum Claire Jelliman for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This was a lovely swaddle with such beautiful design. It helped me so much with my little boy as he tends to suffer a lot with startle reflex, thinking he is falling when drifting off to sleep. He will keep reaching his hands out and making himself panic so to be able to tuck him in all warm gave him the feeling of safety and he could drift of to sleep with no disturbances and stay asleep. It was the perfect size too, a lot of swaddles on the market are always a little short but this was perfect.

How did this product make your life easier?

This made my life easier as it meant that my baby slept happily, warm and felt safe so he didn't get disturbed from his own reflex movements. This meant that mummy got to get on with sorting out my other 2 children without having to keep going back to assure my baby that he was OK and then settle him back down again so he would drift back of to sleep. He slept much more happier and this meant a happier baby when he woke up and not so grouchy from being tired still.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product as it was very eye catching. It has a beautiful design on it which is nice and bright and that was one of the first things I thought when it arrived. It is a lovely size too, some swaddles on the market are very expensive but can be very small in size and you can’t wrap baby up too well, but with this swaddle I could wrap my baby up and tuck it round him enough that his own movements wouldn't make the swaddle come loose and then disturb him sleeping.

What changes would you make to this product?

Honestly I can’t see anything that could be changed with this product.

Tested by mum Rachael Adams for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the swaddles to any of my friends or fellow mums as I've found its useability great in many situations and it is a great travel product too. It's meant I've had to carry much less in baby's changing bag as this can double up as a muslin/blanket and changing mat and is the perfect weight for a summer blanket.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Aden + Anais Swaddles makes life easier as it means I don't have to carry a blanket, muslin and changing mat with me - this does the job of all three. If there are spillages it is much easier to wash and dry than a blanket and a perfect weight of blanket for when we're out and about and it's warm. The size is much bigger than other muslins I have which means it has more usability.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product above all others as it is much more versatile. Although we no longer swaddle baby as such, it's been great as a summer blanket or a blanket to use for naps when I haven't had baby's sleeping bag with me. It's also a great sun cover because it's so big. I can use this as a muslin to wipe spillages etc but know that I can wash and dry quickly and easily every day.

What changes would you make to this product?

I'm not aware of any other designs, but it might be nice to have this in a darker colour too as the white may start to look grubby. If the swaddles came with a type of pocket to fold it into for travelling then it would take up even less space which would be great! Other than that I think this is a great product.

Tested by mum Caroline Kirkham for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This swaddle cloth is very generous in size and so multi-functional I absolutely love it! It is easy to swaddle any baby in it and so breathable and light that the baby can nap in comfort without overheating. The design is attractive and there are many options rather than block 'boy' or 'girl' colours.

How did this product make your life easier?

The size of this cloth is so great that it can be used for so many things other than just a swaddle cloth. It has been used as a tummy time mat, light blanket, shade cover on the pram, sick cleaner and a swaddle and has been perfect for all these things. It washes and dries really well and the design has stayed bright.

Would you choose this product to win?

This product stands out because it is so multifunctional and versatile. Muslin clothes are indispensable for a new parent and having one that is so large is a must. This one is distinctive, so you won't confuse it with someone else's if out with other mums and it really can be used for so much, not just a swaddle, so when baby is too big/wriggly for swaddling, it's not going to be redundant.

What changes would you make to this product?

I really can't think of anything that I would change about this product at all. I think people might be confused at the price tag, which seems quite a lot for a muslin, but having discovered all of the benefits to such a large cloth, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one.

Tested by mum Samantha Reilly for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Aden + Anais Swaddles are soft, lightweight and versatile...babies are expensive and have so many things you need to carry with you so anything which has multi-use gets the thumbs up from me. These are large, light, and breathable, so aside from making excellent swaddles, they are nice summer blankets, nursing covers, car seat covers, play mats, burp cloths...

How did this product make your life easier?

My little girl has never been a great sleeper and whilst the swaddling did help a bit in the early weeks when the startle reflex used to wake her up but as she gets older, she likes being able to move around in her sleep so started doing it looser but she ended up kicking it off. The good thing about this product is its multi-use which means rather than carry three or four different items, I can just carry one.

Would you choose this product to win?

These are more expensive than others on the market but definitely worth it - the fact they are so versatile means they still have many uses after the swaddling phase is over so worth spending a little extra as they will last. I have had so many compliments on the design and there is such variety both gender neutral and specific. The product washes well, keeps its softness, shape and colour.

What changes would you make to this product?

I really don't think there is anything constructive that I can offer to improve the product... The product is lovely and I have even bought some for friends expecting so hope they like them as much as i do.
