Chicco Snappy Lightweight Pushchair

The Snappy is light, colourful and still has room for a small shopping basket and hood. It’s not perfect, as the seat recline is limited, and it’s not as sturdy as other models but it’s well worth a look if you’re after a budget buggy. Read on for our full review of this lightweight pushchair, rated by three real mums in the May 2015 issue of M&B.

The auto-lock closing clip keeps it securely fastened. It’s handy for travel or if storage space is limited.

The Snappy is amazing value for money and the easiest pushchair to fold by far. Eye-catching and colourful, it comes with a carry bag and is very lightweight, too.

It looks neat and has a no fuss feel, so perfect for holidays or as a second pushchair. On the downside, the harness seems pretty basic and flimsy compared with the others and the shopping basket isn’t that stable either. The seat doesn’t recline very far either but it is easy to adjust.

The Snappy manoeuvres well, though, and the seat is roomy and lightly padded. The brakes, though effective, were a little cumbersome and the handles seemed quite low and can’t be adjusted. The front swivel wheels can be locked which makes it easier to push over rough terrain. Overall, the Snappy represents good value for money but is not the most durable of models.

It’s easy to fold and open, even with your hands full. Lockable swivels and two handles make for good manoeuvrability. The adjustable backrest means naps on the move are comfy.

Light enough to carry up a short flight of stairs, or lift in and out of the car. Ideal as a holiday pushchair but robust enough for regular use, the Snappy represents great value – it’s less than half the price of others on test.

Merry Algie, 32, from London, mum to Edeline, six months, said: ‘It’s slim enough to fit along a bus aisle, but once folded I couldn’t fit it in the luggage compartment on the train. However, this is a good budget option.’

Becky Dickinson, 41, from Devon, mum to Jonas, eight, Daisy, five, and Anya, two, said: ‘A lightweight update on the umbrella-fold pushchair. Great value and a perfect second pushchair for using at the grandparents’ house or on holiday.’

Natasha Harding, 40, from Kent, mum to Alexa, 14 months, said: ‘I found it pretty awkward to manoeuvre. It’s not very trendy and feels too basic for everyday use, but it’s an ideal lightweight holiday buggy.’
