At a glance:

Our panel of mum testers loved the bold and bright patterns, beautifully designed in a unisex fashion. It is pretty bulky, but with adjustable Velcro and poppers to ensure a snug fit, we found this nappy to definitely be leak-free!

What they say:

“The award-winning Pop-in new gen V2 reusable nappy from Close is an eco-friendly alternative to disposable nappies. The Pop-in new gen V2 has stretchy tabs just like a disposable nappy for a snug fit around baby every time with a soft waterproof shell that lets baby's bottom breathe and a clever absorbent panel in the outer shell which helps hold the wetness in the middle of the nappy.”

Tested by mum Nicole Godwin for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this to all my mum friends because I feel it would make their lives easier. The colours and design features are suitable for all babies, genders, sizes etc!

How did this product make your life easier?

This product has made my life easier as I don’t need to change my daughter’s nappy as often when out and about, due to the absorbency of the material. The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the thickness of the nappy, as it really bulked out her dresses. But overall, the product has made life a little easier for me and I know that I’m saving money in the long run.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product over the others on the market because I really liked it and have heard so many complaints about other cloth nappy brands. I certainly think this product should win because of how easy it is to use and the way it stands out because of the bold designs. The only issue I found was the thickness, other than that it’s a winner!

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change the thickness of the nappy so that it fit better underneath baby clothes.

Tested by mum Abi Clarke for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The colours and prints are bright and exciting – they are stylish and for the most part completely unisex. I love the company as they do their best to be ecological, which is another great thing about the nappies, as they reduce waste. They last from 8lbs all the way to toddlerhood.

How did this product make your life easier?

I love that this nappy can be popped open some of the way, so that I can adjust it without taking the whole thing off. I also like that we can tumble dry the product, which makes life easier for us. The benefits of these nappies are great, especially the ecological element.

Would you choose this product to win?

The thing that really stands out for me is the ethos of the company. I also think the prints are unique and attractive. You can get plain colours to go with many different outfits or if you fancy something more exciting, the prints would add a bit of fun to any outfit. I also wouldn't mind letting my child be seen in public with just a nappy on, whereas I would mind in a disposable.

What changes would you make to this product?

I found that they weren't a great fit for my baby, personally. The nappies left deep pressure marks around her knicker line, which looked really uncomfortable. I’m not sure if this was a fault with the product or maybe just that she was too small to use them.

Tested by mum Rosie Gilmore for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to a friend. As a family, we have now decided to use reusable nappies instead of disposable ones and this one worked a treat. It folded away easily and looked super tidy in her nappy drawer. This is such an amazing product and I can't believe it has took me this long to get my hands on it.

How did this product make your life easier?

These reusable nappies are a god send. They look so cute, with lots of different designs for boys and girls, and the insert can be removed easily and then popped back in just as quickly. With disposable nappies, there is sometimes an odour, bit never with these. They go from newborn to potty training too - AMAZING!

Would you choose this product to win?

After using these reusable nappies, I will never go back to disposable ones. They have such beautiful designs, so much better than the standard white disposable ones, and the Velcro strip and poppers are so easy to adjust!

What changes would you make to this product?

I would probably make these nappies slightly cheaper. £18 each is slightly steep but I suppose, as they are reusable, it's not too bad. Other than that, the product was an amazing success in our household.

Tested by mum Kathryn Glover for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

If you like reusable nappies then I would recommend these, as they have nice designs to suit everybody’s taste. I liked how they folded up nicely for storing and had secret tabs that you used when washing, to ensure the material didn’t get damaged or catch on other items when in the machine.

How did this product make your life easier?

In theory, these nappies should make life easier as once you have a sufficient number of reusable nappies, you don’t need to buy any more until your child is toilet trained. However, I found the constant washing of nappies more work and in winter, I wouldn't have had the space to dry them. It is great economically though.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes, I would choose these over other reusable nappies on the market as they come in a wide range of patterns in pale or bold colours, making them stand out. Crucially though, sizing is so important and the poppers make the nappies so easy to adjust.

What changes would you make to this product?

It would have been great if the pack I received had come with a bag to store used nappies until you washed them, as these would come in handy when out and about.

Tested by mum Katherine Fraser for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, I would. These nappies are beautifully designed! They were soft and gentle and didn’t leave any red marks on my baby's skin, like disposables did. Also, they are environmentally friendly, and it’s always nice to know you are reducing your own negative impact on the planet. There is now a lot less household waste and I don't have to worry and repeated trips to the bins!

How did this product make your life easier?

I had not tried reusable nappies previously but loved the idea of them. I was nervous about the washing and potentially making more work for myself in an already busy life. However, these have only made my life easier! I've not dealt with any leakages into clothes since using these, which was a common occurrence with disposables.

Would you choose this product to win?

I have not tried any other brand of reusable nappies but, as these ones are so good, I would not feel the need to look elsewhere. They are so soft and beautiful to look at, as well as being ingeniously designed with poppers, which makes using them very simple. It was all a bit daunting at first but I soon realised how the clever design made life as easy as possible for parents.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only negative I can find is as a mum on a budget, the initial cost is quite high. The product is amazing but it’s quite expensive!

Tested by mum Kate Teague for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the pop in Pop-in New Gen V2 reusable nappies to other mums as they come in great designs and seem very secure and comfortable on my baby. I like the fact that these nappies are suitable for newborns up to potty training, which makes it very economical. They seem very good quality and the inner material is very soft. Although it would be helpful if the instructions were clearer about using the night time booster as I ended up having to Google it!

How did this product make your life easier?

I have always used disposable nappies and don't think the pop in nappies would make my life easier in terms of washing and drying the nappies compared to throwing a disposable nappy away, but after using these reusable nappies I can see a big saving on the money being spent on disposable nappies and in future will be using these reusable nappies.

Would you choose this product to win?

The Pop-in New Gen V2 nappies are very good quality and excellently designed. They have clearly spent a lot of time developing this nappy as all of the features are very thought out, like the hidden wash tabs and the soaker plus booster design. They are very absorbant more than a disposable nappy, I haven't had a single leak since using them even at night time.

What changes would you make to this product?

What I would change about the pop in new gen v2 are the colours that they are available in. Also from using disposable nappies I found these nappies to be very bulky. I understand this for the absorbancy and to stop leaks but looks very big on my baby.

Tested by mum Christine Williams for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

They are really good for the environment and in the long run will save you lots of money. They don't give your child nappy rash as much as disposables. They are much more attractive to look at than disposables and don't sag between babies' legs. They are more comfortable than disposables and softer on the skin.

How did this product make your life easier?

You don't have as much rubbish in your outside bins. When reusables are full they don't fall off baby's bum or leak gel everwhere. The insides of disposables react really badly with my daughter's skin if they split and give her really bad nappy rash. These nappies dont seem to cause nappy rash and are more comfortable for baby so they are happier too.

Would you choose this product to win?

The liners are very absorbant and the nappy as a whole looks very stylish especially in the bright colours. They are also a very good price for reusables.. But overall they save you lots of money over the years.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change the Velcro to poppers. Velcro can be very easy for young children to learn to undo, whereas poppers are tighter and harder to pull apart which causes less accidents with children removing nappies. Or make them do up at the back with Velcro so the child can't get to it so easily.

Tested by mum Becca Irving for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I was a total cloth nappy virgin before. Now I'm completely converted! I love how these help the environment, even the liners are biodegradable. The designs of them are so cute and colourful, my eldest loves seeing her sister in them.

How did this product make your life easier?

The main thing is the money they save - not having to buy disposable nappies makes a huge difference to our weekly shop! I thought I'd be constantly washing them but they just go in with our regular wash. They also don't seem to leak which is a bonus! They're so simple to use even in the middle of the night semi-dark changes.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love these nappies. The designs are fantastic - not just the colours and patterns (how cute are the campervans?!) but the poppers that mean the nappy fits to your child's size and grows with them. Therefore they don't need to be replaced. I also love that they fold up so small so they don't take up much room in the change bag.

What changes would you make to this product?

The price. Although these nappies save you a huge amount in the long run, the upfront cost puts some people off when budgeting for baby. The multi pack is good value though. I also wish that these could be tumble dried - I live in the north east so good drying days are pretty rare! The nappies themselves dry very quickly but the inners need a bit of time.

Tested by mum Jen Pryal for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I've never used reusable nappies before so didn't really know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised when the nappies arrived. They were very pretty with a decent selection of designs to choose from although I felt catered more for boys than girls. The fact they all came popped together made a novice like me feel more confident when using them and also made transporting them easier too. My 4 month old stayed dry and showed no sign of discomfort or nappy rash when using them, which I was initially concerned about.

How did this product make your life easier?

The fact that all layers were clipped together made them far easier to use and made for a smoother transition to reusables from disposables. I loved the designs of them and showed them off proudly in the nice weather we've been having. The liners provided kept most of the baby poo off the actual nappy making cleaning her when out and about much easier and quicker. Often with disposables we would have a full outfit change after a poo explosion but no problems at all with these!

Would you choose this product to win?

I loved the letter that came with them, creating a very personal touch. They were good to look at, easy to use even for the disposable nappy user like myself and my baby seemed happy in them. Fewer outfit changes as it contained poo far better than any disposable I've used too which is a massive bonus for a time challenged busy mother of 3.

What changes would you make to this product?

I understand the need for the layers but the extra bulk that it brings did make for a few issues when choosing outfits. Tights and leggings were tricky to get up and over the nappy and it did concern me re her generally comfort but as it was generally nice weather or I wore her in a sling fewer clothes were ok. Is there any way to avoid the extra bulk reusables bring?

Tested by mum Abigail Hall for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

These were the first reusable nappies I have ever used and I was amazed at how easy they were, a little time consuming to begin with putting all the bits together after washing them but once you were used to it it was all very easy - the compatible poppers helped to know which end went where and I was presently impressed with the dryness of my son's bottom at nappy change times and his lack of redness - they seemed to be very kind on his skin.

How did this product make your life easier?

These nappies were easy to put together, instructions were clear. The matching compatible poppers really helped and the Velcro fasteners were great, these nappies were as easy to put on as disposable nappies. The nappies were size adjustable which was a real plus side and made them long lasting and a good investment/value for money after the initial outlay. These nappies were very absorbent and kept in some very dodgy number twos!

Would you choose this product to win?

I haven't used any other reusable nappies before but as a first experience I have found it to be a very positive one and am now converted to using cloth nappies over disposable ones. These were easy to use, wash and maintain and came in some bright, colorful and fun designs. I would give these nappies an award for how gentle and kind they are on baby's skin and for their effectiveness and holding in everything they should.

What changes would you make to this product?

Overall this product was good and came with everything I needed to get started. However with just 5 nappies it was a quick turn around with the washing to ensure continued use. A starter package deal would be good to make this product more appealing at the initial investment and outlet stage. I feel over time this would save you money compared to disposable nappies as these nappies grow with your baby/child however as an initial lump sum cost it could put people off investing especially at a time when other expenses are being laid out for too. The fun and bright designs were nice but a wider variety to choose from would be more appealing too.

Tested by mum Sophia Payne for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

These nappies fit our baby really well, were very absorbent, and didn't leak once. I would recommend them over other nappies because of how well they perform, as well as the fact they come in gorgeous colours and prints. Whereas I wouldn't trust some other nappies to last overnight, with the Pop-in New Gen V2 Nappy I felt that the bamboo material would work well over a longer period. They did take a bit longer to dry, but were still quicker drying than I expected for this material.

How did this product make your life easier?

These nappies make my life easier because I can rely on them to not leak. This means less changing clothes and worrying about getting a wet sofa/bed/car seat etc. My baby seems very happy in them and it saves us a lot of money on disposables. The double leg gusset is a really good design and so far we've had no leaks even on our skinny baby. It is also great to know that we aren't going to run out of nappies or waste any nappies as he grows because we can just adjust the size of the Pop-ins.

Would you choose this product to win?

The colours and prints of these are fab and can suit any baby. Reliability is always the main factor and so far they have been fantastic. The size, fit and material has been perfect for our baby and we've had no leaks or rashes. For a bamboo nappy they don't take as long to dry as I expected, which makes them much more appealing to us because we don't have a tumble drier. Design wise these have been very well thought out, and I love the laundry tabs that tuck away so they aren't touching skin.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change about the Pop-in print nappy is to have the design with alternating campervans (or whichever print it is) so that when the nappy is on it doesn't look like the print is upside down. From the front the nappy looks fine, but I think the print looks a bit odd from the back as all the vans are upside down. Functionality wise, I think the nappy is fantastic and I'm not sure if there is anything that needs improvement.

Tested by mum Stacey Jeebooah for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the Pop-in New Gen V2 Reusable Nappy to a fellow mum if they didn't mind the hassle of washing and drying the nappies. Personally, to use only reusable nappies would be too much hassle for me, I would have to use both reusable and disposable. This is because washing and drying them in a timely manner, for me, is too much hassle, particularly in the colder months when it would take much longer for the nappies to dry. That said, I have enjoyed using these reusable nappies. They are made at a high quality, look much better on my toddler and baby than disposable nappies and can be made to be more absorbent than disposable nappies for the night time with the additional booster. I love the choice of different colours and designs, we picked the Kokeshi doll print and pastel colours, and I love the look of them! The nappies are very easy to use. The makers have very cleverly included poppers at the front of the nappy to adjust the size to the child. So if a fellow parent really wanted to save on money and to minimise the amount of nappies for waste, I would recommend these reusable nappies.

How did this product make your life easier?

I have to be honest, this product doesn't make my life any easier as a mum in any significant way. I think the only way if would make my life easier is if I had run out of disposable nappies, I would use one of these, assuming I had washed them in time. Disposables are much more convenient. However, I do really love the product, they're stylish and the quality is well above disposable nappies, it's made from bamboo and fleece, giving extra comfort to my little ones and as a mum, this really makes me feel a lot happier when changing their nappies.

Would you choose this product to win?

The makers have been so smart in their design, allowing the nappies to fit the child from birth to potty training with the poppers at the front. They are made from natural fibres, making it comfortable for the children. They have even thought about washing and added an additional velcro tab inside the nappy to avoid the hook part of the velcro catching during a cycle. They offer an array of beautiful colours and I love the printed design of the kokeshi doll.

Tested by mum Philippa Ballerio for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I absolutely love the reusable cloth nappy concept, particularly because it is much kinder to the environment so you aren't sending tonnes of nappies to landfill, and also in how much money you save over the total time your baby is in nappies for. I also love bamboo in any product, because of its wicking, and anti fungal and antibacterial properties, which then protects my baby's skin so well. These nappies are a great user-friendly choice for a first time cloth nappy family, and are good value

How did this product make your life easier?

These nappies are great because they go from birth to potty in one design, thus limiting how many nappies you need to purchase, and therefore once you have your total nappy kit, you are totally set up. Unlike other brands, it is just one type of nappy day or night, but the boosters can be added if needed, which makes it a very user friendly system, even for husbands! The wash tabs are also a great invention, and the whole nappy can be washed and hung out as one unit by just un-popping one end.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love the fact that it is one type of nappy for all occasions and all ages, which makes it a very simple kit to use. I also love the colours and patterns, and the use of bamboo, which is such a great fabric for babies given all its fabulous properties. They wash and dry very quickly, but still look pristine. However, I found the nappies to be quite bulky, especially for a younger baby, and without the night time booster, they needed changing really frequently because they were soon saturated.

Tested by mum Gillian Holbrook for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I really loved the design of these nappies and they look so stylish, not what you'd expect reusable nappies to be like. They were so easy to put on and washed so well. My only criticism is that they are quite bulky and I'm not sure how comfortable they would be for a crawling child.

How did this product make your life easier?

These nappies allow me to be more eco-friendly with less hassle and help me to save money. They were also so soft that I had no worries about my daughter's skin getting sore which isn't always the case with disposable nappies. The night-time insert meant the nappy lasted all night with no leaks at all. My daughter slept perfectly.

Would you choose this product to win?

They are so soft and comfortable and I absolutely love the dolls design and I think that the other designs are amazing too. They are also so absorbent which I believe is down to the bamboo and other fantastic materials they use to make these. The liners are super too so if the nappy is soiled you can just flush it down the toilet or if wet put it in the bin. No adding to the mound of nappies in landfills.

What changes would you make to this product?

I think really the only thing I would change is to make the a bit lighter and not so bulky as you really need babies' vests to be a size up to fit over the nappy and due to the extra weight and bulkiness I'm so sure how flexible and comfortable it will be to crawl in them. It may also be an idea to sell packs with enough nappies to get through a few days or recommend on the website how many you will need to buy without having to wash everyday as some new mums may not know how many they will need.

Tested by mum Elin Jones for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

If a fellow mum was wanting to use the reusable nappy then I would probably recommend it. Its downfall is that it is really bulky and therefore won't go under any baby trousers and leggings without buying a much bigger size which then are obviously too long for baby, The product is nice and bright and very fun but very bulky.

How did this product make your life easier?

Obviously reusable nappies in the long run help the purse strings and are very simple to change when you get the hang of it. It was quite hard to get used to them and my husband really struggled in comparison to the disposable. They were lovely and bright so were easy to find amongst the washing and did wash well.

Would you choose this product to win?

The product is lovely and bright and fun and comes in very clear packaging to help a first time user. The add ons such as the unique designs you can get are stunning and would appeal to an older child and create a nice pride about wearing them. The instructions and product are fantastic and we would certainly buy them.

What changes would you make to this product?

If we could change one thing about this product it would be to just reduce the size of them as they don't fit properly under clothing, we have been lucky it's been quite warm whilst testing these so our baby has been wearing them as a summer outfit, but in the winter they wouldn't fit under trousers so we would revert back to disposable.
