Find out what our parent testers and their babies thought of the Fisher-Price Mega Bloks First Builders 60-piece Building Bag.

Tested by mum Charli Fuller for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend the Fisher-Price Mega Bloks First Builders 60-piece Building Bag to a friend/fellow mum?

Absolutely brilliant product, would highly recommend, one for every toy-box!  The blocks are big enough to not be swallowed and great for little hands to create anything they desire. The little zip bag is great for neatly tidying them all away.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The Mega Bloks come in a handy zip bag which is sturdy enough to use again and again, making it great for practising tidying up time!  The bloks are big and solid giving me piece of mind that they wont cause any harm to my little one.

If you could change one thing about the Fisher-Price Mega Bloks First Builders 60-piece Building Bag, what would it be?

The Mega Bloks blocks fit together rather loosely which is great for my 1 year old to easily pull the pieces apart.  However, some of the pieces are too loose and therefore frustrate my 3 year old when his creations fall apart easily.

Why would you recommend the Fisher-Price Mega Bloks First Builders 60-piece Building Bag to a friend/fellow mum?

I would certainly recommend this product to anyone with small children. The bag the blocks arrives in is clear and is made from a durable plastic. The blocks inside are durable, brightly colored and safe to use meaning that I do not have to worry about any safety issues whilst my child plays with the blocks. The blocks are easy to fit together and hold meaning that my child can build freely without requiring help. There are a few designs on the front of the package that can be copied to build which gives my child something to aim for.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Because the blocks are easy to hold and safe to use, I do not need to worry about safety whilst my child is playing with the blocks. Also because the blocks are easy to fit together I do not get the call to help every minute allowing me to get on with other things.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would add a booklet of designs that could be followed and therefore giving my child something other than their imagination to build with.

Why would you recommend the Fisher-Price Mega Bloks First Builders 60-piece Building Bag to a friend/fellow mum?

If i had to choose one toy for my little one this would be it. It is extremely versatile and can be played with at home or taken out and about to grandparents houses or even to restaurants. All the pieces fit nicely into the carry bag. Colours are bright. The pieces are the perfect size for little hands to hold and fit together. My little one loved building a tower and knocking it down. Provided hours of entertainment

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

If the bloks fitted together slightly tighter as when they are slotted together they easily separate.

Why would you recommend the Fisher-Price Mega Bloks First Builders 60-piece Building Bag to a friend/fellow mum?

It comes in a handy and cartable bag, easy for baby and me to play 'packing away' with. The blocks slide together really easily, more so than other block and the first one that my baby at 14 months can, just about, put together without huge frustration. Love the colours. The plastic does feel a little unpleasant to play with, I much prefer materials other than plastic.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It helps that the blocks slide together really easily, more so than other block and the first one that my baby at 14 months can, just about, put together without huge frustration. It means baby feels satisfied playing with the product, even at this young age. There aren't any unusual shapes so it may become a bit limited after much playing but for the first step to more intricate play these do the job.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would probably add some more intricate shapes styles, perhaps animal or vehicle resemblances... some eyes/hair etc to give the blocks some other dimension. There could be a base board to build on but this is not a necessity as they work well being free flow. The material could be worked on but I imagine has been chosen for the ease of connecting the blocks which is a real bonus.
