These Bambino Mio Potty training pants are the perfect for that go-between stage when tots are transitioning from nappies to pants. Have fun while your child is potty training with their potty with these child-friendly designs that make ‘big kid’ potty training pants more fun.

The Bambino Mio potty training pants are also made from easy-to-wash fabric, plus this product has won Bronze at the 2024 Mother&Baby Awards.

Testing the Bambino Mio Potty Training Pants

Here is what our army of parent testers, and their little ones, thought of the Bambino Mio Potty Training Pants.

One tester said: “Pull-up style potty training pantsare the perfect step away from nappies towards big-kid pants! Promoting independence for your toddler with a pull-up style design. Made of a cotton blend fabric, nothing is softer against your child's skin. Concealed water-resistant layer and inner pad to contain little accidents. Allows toddlers to feel wetness while minimising the need for clothing changes. Machine washable and can be tumble dried.”

Tested by mum Shannon Finch for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to a friend because, in the long run, it's far cheaper to purchase a few of these than buy disposable pull-ups. Also, it can be very expensive if you are having to try multiple brands to see which one your child won't react to. With the Bambino Mio training pants, you don't have to worry about skin reactions! I love how many beautiful designs are available as well and that they don’t leave your bag smelling of chemicals.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes life easier because I don't have to worry about my little one having any accidents in bed - if she does, I know that she won’t be soaked through as the pant material is so absorbent. The trouble we had with disposable pull ups was that my daughter reacted very badly to them, whereas with fabric pull ups, I know that I can wash them in a substance she won't react to.

Would you choose this product to win?

I think this product should win a Mother & Baby award because it's the only type of washable pull-up I've seen on the market. The pants come in such pretty designs and several sizes. I love the fabric so much that it has made me consider buying cloth nappies for my son (seven-months-old) as this is more cost-effective and better for his skin.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would maybe make more designs and patterns available so that we could have more variety on a day to day basis.

Tested by mum Jessica Evans for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, the product is very well-made, super soft and comfortable on my toddler.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product is great for children who are almost there with potty training, but can't always make it in time to the potty or toilet. They hold small leaks very well without ruining an outfit. When we were using normal pants, we would have to change pants, trousers, socks and sometimes shoes to get little one dry again. With these, we only need to change pants, which saved time and energy and this means that my life is considerably easier.

Would you choose this product to win?

I don't believe I've seen many products like this on the market. It's a great idea, and I think it's perfect for potty training because we want our child to be able to distinguish between a nappy and a pair of pants. These potty-training pants are more like a pair of regular pants, which help him to realise that it's not very nice to have accidents.

What changes would you make to this product?

Having another layer of absorption would be great so that more liquid could be held in these pants. It would also be great if they were sold in multipacks, just like a regular pack of pants would be.

Tested by mum Rachael Ford-Hutchinson for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the Bambino Mio Potty-Training Pants to mums who are conscious about the environment and the impact of using potty training nappies. I would say that these are best used with children who aren't having frequent accidents, because they do absorb well but don’t hold all of the liquid in.

How did this product make your life easier?

It made life a little easier in the sense that my son was keen to put them on because they weren't a traditional disposable nappy and it made him feel like he was more grown up. It doesn't make life easier for us being out and about because they still need bagged up, carried around and brought home to wash. But they are definitely more comfortable than disposable potty training pant.

Would you choose this product to win?

I’m not sure as I don’t know any other similar items on the market to compare these to. I like this product but you'd probably need at least five pairs, which does make it a bit of a costly investment. However, I do really like the brand and I trust it, which means I would buy these again.

What changes would you make to this product?

I felt that the sizing was a bit off, the pants were too big for my toddler. Maybe they could work on the sizing.

Tested by mum Camilla Francis for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, particularly for a child that had not yet begun potty training. I think it would be great for the first stages, before big kid pants are introduced. I would recommend these pants for design, ease of use and easy washing!

How did this product make your life easier?

My daughter was nearly potty trained when we received these, so she didn't like how thick the pants felt – she thought they were nappies and would revert back to nappy stage! But I think that they only didn’t work for us because I used this product too late in the potty-training process. I’m sure the pants would be much more effective for those just starting out.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product over others, as a great middle man between nappies and pants. They are a brilliant idea. The only thing is that, if my child soiled in one of these, I would not be inclined to wash and re-use them, making them less cost effective. I’d rather throw away a cheap or disposable pair of pants.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing, it would be the thickness of these pants. I understand why they're so thick, for absorption, but it put my daughter off wearing them. Otherwise, great design, functionality and pattern!

Tested by mum Emma Dean for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I can really see how children enjoy these pants as it gives them the feeling of being grown up, which helps bring about an exciting potty-training adventure. Additionally, the designs and patterns make them appealing to younger children. The sizing and fit was also fantastic and spot on for my three-year-old.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes life easier financially. There is no need to purchase disposable training pull ups anymore, as we can use these for everyday use. Equally, it is great to introduce little one to ‘proper’ underwear as I can emphasise how important it is to ensure they don't have accidents.

Would you choose this product to win?

Personally, I would not choose this product over others on the market. Although reusable, I felt that when the little one had an accident, the pants smelt bad and the smell lingered. Also, my little one still felt that she was wearing a nappy, which didn't help her to get used to the idea of normal pants.

What changes would you make to this product?

We had a problem with the absorbency of the product overnight. I would make it a little more absorbent. Otherwise, it is a good product.
