Testing the Brush-Baby BabySonic Electric Toothbrush

Our mum tester said: "I would highly recommend this product to fellow mums. The feature I like most is the light which helps me to see into my toddler's mouth when helping him clean his teeth. The dentist recommended I should be assisting him to clean his teeth until he is 7 and this light feature lights up his mouth so I can see the teeth I'm helping him clean. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?! The replacement brush heads are also good value (~£2 each), which is surprising as usually with these kind of toiletries the replacement parts are expensive. The toothbrush has also held up well being used in the bath (waterproof). It's also simple for my toddler to use - just 1 button that is easy to press. For me, this is an award-winning product."

"My toddler has only ever used manual toothbrushes and it's always a struggle to get him to clean his teeth, but when he saw this toothbrush he was so impressed with the sonic vibrations and the lights that he actually wanted to clean his teeth! This toothbrush makes my life easier as a mum because it turns teeth cleaning into less of a battle. It was a battle to get the toothbrush off of him in the first week! He's still enjoying more cleaning his teeth with his new toothbrush 3 weeks on, so it isn't a novelty, it is helping long term. I won't be going back to a manual toothbrush, I'll be using Brush Baby for both my children from now on."

Another parent commented: "It is the perfect toothbrush for children who want to be independent when brushing their teeth, it's small, thus perfect for little hands and mouths. As the toothbrush is fairly compact, it is easy to really clean teeth. The brush also has a discreet light, that you activate by pressing a button, which makes seeing what your child and you are brushing, very straightforward. The brush feels soft and smooth but feels like it's cleaning teeth thoroughly, we really liked it."

The small brush head is ideal for little teeth, also encouraging minimal toothpaste use, which is easy to overdo with a manual toothbrush. Neutral in tone, the product is suited to both boys and girls although a broader array of colours would be useful in terms of differentiating toothbrushes when more than one child is using the product.

Final thoughts

Brush-Baby’s BabySonic Electric Toothbrush is a great toothbrush for baby’s first teeth. The vibrating noise might be a little intimidating at first but once your little one has been persuaded, you're A for Away! The head is small – so perfect for little mouths – and the toothbrush is designed to encourage independent brushing.

Interchangeable heads would be a good idea (toddlers will need a bigger one) and the addition of a small light would be nice but otherwise a wonderful product.

The Brush-Baby BabySonic might also be slightly more than some parents would pay for a child's toothbrush but all the extras, plus the fun factor, make the product good value for money. Now make a rechargeable version please!
