With a sleek design, lie-flat seat suitable from birth, and clever features like a one-hand fold and pull-out shoulder strap, the Silver Closs Clic 2 (follow-up to the Silver Closs Clic) promises everyday ease with no compromise on comfort or style. Testing the Silver Cross Clic 2

I’m a 39-year-old mum with a very active 1-year-old, we’re often out for walks or visiting a café so I can have a coffee whilst my little one consumes snacks and makes friends with everyone.

I’ve been testing the Silver Cross Clic 2, an ultra-lightweight and compact stroller ideal for taking on holiday, or for a smooth journey around the city. I already use the Silver Cross Reef travel system but have been looking for something a little easier to transport. The Clic 2 definitely appealed as it’s marketed as having a one-handed, self-standing fold along with a pull-out shoulder strap. Alongside this, it includes the Magnetic Genius Buckle, hopefully helping with safely strapping my daughter in whilst she does her best to resist.

Build

The key feature of this stroller is how lightweight it is, weighing just 6.5kg. Up to this point, I’ve been using a heavy pushchair, which is tricky to get in and out of the boot of my car. No such issues with the Clic 2, this folded up in one simple movement and I could lift it into my boot with ease. It’s so compact I could fit my suitcases and the stroller in my boot, alongside several backpacks, cool bags etc. This also meant I was able to neatly store it away in the house, and the travel bag helps to stop any scuffs or dirt from transferring to my walls.

The only downside with it being so lightweight is that it can feel a bit wobbly at times when on challenging terrain – maybe something to bear in mind if you’re planning on going off pavement for a good portion of your walk.

My favourite feature was the one-handed, self-standing fold, which was evident from assembly. Normally, I need to read the instructions to figure out how to set up anything baby-related, however as soon as I took this out of the box it opened with a simple unclick of the side latch and pull of the handle. It was so simple my mum complimented it, and she is not a fan of most prams!

The handle worked well for me, however my partner would have preferred it to be adjustable to minimise his stooping. My only disappointment with the Clic 2 is the lack of space in the under-basket storage as this didn’t fit the baby changing bag we have, which was a bit of a drawback. Though if you’re just looking to store a couple of snacks and beach towels, this would do the job.

Usability

I found the Silver Cross Clic 2 stroller easy to manoeuvre as it’s so compact and well-designed that it fitted round the tightest of spaces. This made it ideal when out shopping – trying to get a baby through the racks of H&M is no mean feat. I also took it out with us when we visited a cafe and could squeeze though the chairs without the usual wheel bumping.

I also tested it out during a long walk to the nature reserve near us, the rough path was really bumpy and it lacked the control of the heavier styles of buggy but for a lightweight travel pushchair, this is to be expected.

The main upside of the Clic 2 stroller is just how well suited it is for a holiday – we’re planning to take it with us when we head down to Devon. It’s already allayed any fears regarding how we’ll fit our suitcases into the boot.

Performance

The clip-in straps were fantastic and so simple to use because of the magnetic clasp; I absolutely loved them. I found the straps themselves easily adjustable, even whilst my daughter was in the stroller.

The seat itself can be changed from upright to lie flat with a pull of a tab; I did the ultimate test of trying this mid-nap and she didn’t even stir! I would have liked it if the seat were a little deeper, this is something other people have mentioned in reviews, whilst others find it means their child sits in a better position. I think this might just be my perception, though as my daughter seemed more than comfortable in the stroller.

A quick mention regarding the brakes, as the stroller is so lightweight, it took me some time to get used to whether the brakes were on or off when my daughter wasn’t in the pram as I was so used to my heavy-duty pram.

Final thoughts

I loved testing the Silver Cross Clic 2 Stroller, so much so that I’ve been recommending it to any mum about to go on a holiday, or looking for a stroller to use around a busy city. It’s fantastic value for money at £245, especially when compared to its competitors.

The super slim wheels, built-in handle and ease of assembly make it the perfect choice for a busy parent. Plus it has a chic design in some stylish colours, I recommend the ‘Conifer’ green for hiding dirty finger prints whilst switching it up from black.

If I’m being picky, I’d have liked slightly bigger under basket for the baby essentials (and to help out with the extras when shopping) but overall it’s a big yes for me.
