Testing the Tommee Tippee Made for Me Double Electric Breast Pump

We asked some of our parent testers for their thoughts and this is how they got on with the Tommee Tippee Made for Me Double Electric Breast Pump:

Leah: I don’t respond well to breast pumps normally and so using manual can become tiresome and I give up. The electric made this so much easier as I could just sit and pretty much leave it to do its job and it did well. It’s also comfortable which is good. It’s easy to use, not complicated which is great for me because I don’t do well with things that take too much time to figure out when running around with 2 young children.

Fahima: This product has been really amazing! It’s helped me pump out for my baby when I’ve not been able to feed directly. It’s versatile and quick to set up. The powerful suction has really kept my milk supply going and for that, I have to say well done to Tommee Tippee. This product has allowed me to keep on breastfeeding my babies!

Kirstie: Being able to express both sides at the same time is a game-changer, and for the cost of this pump compared to a single pump, it’s definitely worth it! It’s a compact and comfortable design that could be easily portable and it’s also quite quiet so could be used anywhere. Brilliant for Mams that need to be away from their babies and express milk quickly.

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Nadine: I would recommend the Tommee Tippee Made for Me Double Electric Breast Pump to other families because it is so easy to use, this only took 5 minutes to prepare and put on ready for use. They’re also attached to bottles rather than a different container, so you don’t have to transfer. It’s very easy to put a bag inside the bottles too, so you can collect straight into a bag, and put them straight into the freezer for later. This pump charges via USB so although not “wireless”, you don’t need to be plugged in near a socket. You can basically pump anywhere, as it suggests. This is ideal if you’re pumping at work, or out of the house. Finally, this double breast pump is a great price compared to other pumps on the market.

Kathryn: I’d recommend this product as a breast pump because it’s quiet, comfortable and easy to use. It has various settings and once you get to know what suits you, it’s so easy to just press a couple of buttons and off you go! It’s easy to clean and looks excellent quality as an all-rounder, especially for the price.

Helena: The pump holds its charge well and can be used without being plugged in which is really handy if you need to move around the house which is essential. The double pump feature means you can get a lot of milk quickly which is also essential, as I was using a pump for top-up feeds as my daughter was dropping weight, and as a new mum, I needed a quick system to pump in between feeds.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Leah: I would choose this over other brands and what first struck me is the design and colour. It’s so nice looking, may not be important to some people but it is an upseller for me when something is more visually appealing. It’s a lovely sleek design, easy, comfortable and packs away easily too to make storage good.

Nadine: There are a few reasons that would make me choose this pump over others. Firstly, it’s a well-known brand, I already have Tommee Tippee bottles, a Tommee Tippee steriliser and other Tommee Tippee products. This meant I already trusted it would be a good quality product. It's a really smart-looking design, very easy to use, it can be very off-putting to express if the pump is too complex, but that’s not a problem with this pump. It’s not a very noisy pump either, so although it’s not exactly discreet, you can get away with pumping without being heard, which I really like.

Helena: This product is a lot quieter than others I have used, my partner commented he could still watch TV whilst I was pumping, more importantly for me, I wasn’t worried about it waking the baby! The handheld control panel buttons light up so it can be used in a darkened room, and as you don't have to be plugged in it can be used anywhere. The option to choose how long you use the massage feature before starting to express is also a great feature that I have not seen on other pumps on the market for a similar price.

What changes would you make to this product?

Fahima: It would have been even more amazing if it had a case to go in. I struggle to put the pump into various bags etc. It would also be better if the instructions were a bit more clear. Maybe even a QR code to scan to watch a video on how to fit the pump together as I did struggle with this when I got the pump.

Kirstie: I’m not sure there’s a lot I would change. The only thing I found was that it was a little tricky to put together to begin with but I understand that it needs to be designed like that so it can be cleaned easily. If there was a way to make that more straight forward then that would be great but it’s something I got the hang of fairly quickly anyway.

Leah: There wasn’t much I would change on this, to be honest. If there was a way to make cleaning even quicker and easier then I would be well up for it but it’s not too bad as is. I’m just partly lazy and partly so busy all the time that a quick clean is important so I’m not having to fiddle with too much.
