Description

We are obsessed with the bedding created by eco-brand Kabode. All ranges are made with organic cotton. This means it is better for little ones as there is less chance of skin irritation too. Mother&Baby writer Hannah James, mother of three, said: "When this bedding set arrived, the first thing I noticed was its premium quality. It arrived in a box, and my first thoughts were that this would make an amazing gift. I would highly recommend it for parents wanting the best quality bedding for their little one."

Toddler Bedding – All you need to know

Choosing the right toddler bedding sets

Choosing the right size duvet and bedding set is very important. If your little one is still in their cot, you'll want to make sure they have a cot bed duvet rather than a single-sized duvet, as this could cause them to overheat. The next thing to think about is the material of your child's bedding set. Linen is one of the most durable fabrics. Another popular material is cotton, this is because it is soft and comfortable. If you are on a budget, a cotton/polyester blend is often a little less expensive.

The NHS website states that you should wait until your child is one-year-old before you begin to introduce a duvet and pillow. This is because they can suffocate if their face gets covered. A child over the age of one is more able to push the cover away.

Signs your toddler is ready for a toddler bed

While some toddlers are able to switch into a bed around 18 months, others might not transition to a toddler bed until they're 30 months (2 1/2 years) old or even 3 to 3 1/2. Any time between these age ranges is considered normal.

, author of The Gentle Sleep Book: No tears sleep solutions for parents of newborns to five-year-olds, says these are a few of the signs that will indicate when your toddler is ready to move out of their cot:

• They climb out of the cot.

• They become more interested in climbing on other objects (e.g., your sofa, chairs or tables). Even if they haven't tried to climb out of the cot yet, they likely will soon, and it's much better to make the move before they have an accident falling out of the cot.

• They start to get upset about going into their cot at bedtime.

• They start to wake more in the night.

• You find them with arms or legs poking out between the cot bars (especially if they ever have pressure marks from them).

• They start jumping in their cot, and you worry that as they get bigger, they may potentially break the frame.

What age does a child need toddler bedding?

There is no set rule on when you need to swap your child's sleeping bag for a duvet. Usually, it is a good idea to practise pulling the duvet and pushing it down by themselves. Until they're confident doing this, we'd recommend sticking to a sleeping bag.

How often should you change a toddler's bedding?

You do not need to treat your toddler's bedding any differently than you do your own unless they have an accident. Both adult and children's bedding should be washed once every two weeks minimum.

Can toddlers have a duvet in the cot?

If your child is over the age of one, it is safe to use a duvet. If your child is still in a cot or a cot bed, make sure you use the appropriate size.
