Testing the Silver Cross Jet 5 Stroller
As a first time mum I really loved the pushchair my son used, but found despite it being suited for up to four-years-old, he outgrew it quite quickly.
I really wanted a travel stroller for the convenience of the lightweight design and how compact they were, so I was really delighted when looking at all the features of the Silver Cross Jet 5.
I needed a stroller that would fit our busy lives, suit our storage needs, as well as be versatile to use for traveling within the UK as well as abroad.
Build
The build of the Jet 5 Stroller is really great! The frame feels really sturdy despite its compact and lightweight design. It fits great into the car and allows for additional room, so if you're using it every day as well it saves loads of space, but it's also more compact for ensuring awkward luggage also fits in the boot.
I liked the size of the under-storage basket too, however sometimes it was quite tricky to get larger items in and out due to the bar through the middle. But this is only a minor inconvenience.
We found it really easy to pop the stroller overhead on trains as well as it being cabin-approved, so have found it perfect for travelling to France to visit family. It helps that it's lightweight too, as it's a lot easier to lift above your head.

Usability
The stroller is good to manoeuvre around however when pushing over rockier paths you would have to pull the stroller backward as it really struggled to go over the stones forwards. This does make me sceptical to what it would be like on a beach holiday as it might struggle to go over sand, however for paths, grass and streets it's really easy to push.
It was easy to fold the stroller, however it was sometimes a little stiff to pop up from the compact fold, although this was good when taking from overhead compartments as it didn't start to unfolded when taking it down.
Performance
As a travel stroller, the Silver Cross Jet 5 does pretty much everything you need it too, with its compact fold and lightweight frame.
It was easy enough to push on smooth ground although I do think it would struggle across sand. The breaks work really well and you can lock the stroller into place to stop it from moving. This feature was key because it's lightweight and would tend to move slightly in the wind, although this isn't a concern unless your little one isn't in the stroller.
The harness uses a magnetic fastening which is really easy to use, and I felt like my son was really safe and secure while strapped into the stroller. While they performed well at keeping him in safely, I did have to loosen the straps slightly so my son could sit forward as otherwise he would be laid slouched in the stroller, which he liked being upright and nosey.
Final verdict
I really liked this stroller, it was really easy to push and looked stylish and the fact it's cabin friendly is a huge bonus.
One thing I do wish was a bit better is the back of the stroller, I felt like my son was slouching back and having to use the handles to pull himself forward, but I've found this with a lot of strollers.
Otherwise, I think the Silver Cross Jet 5 is reasonably priced if you're going to use it every day as well as travel like we do, however it does seem a bit of a higher price if you were just using for one holiday, but you are paying for huge convenience (which you can never have too much of with little ones!).
Overall I'd definitely recommend to parents.
