Awards

The Simba Baby Cot Bed Mattress is a brilliant way to help your baby get to sleep, and that's why it won Silver in the Mother&Baby Awards 2025 for Best Sleep Product. It also won Bronze in the same category back in 2024, so you can tell it has long-lasting quality. Our testers thought it was stellar - read on to find out more!
Testing the Simba Baby Cot Bed Mattress
Our testers loved the Simba mattress, especially compared to previous baby mattresses they'd used. One parent told us that "with our previous mattress, we had to let it air to get rid of plastic fumes. We did not have to do this with this one, which I felt was much better, as my baby wasn’t breathing in any fumes." Another reported that their son has always been a good sleeper, but he would "often stir during the night before resettling himself," before going on to say that "since using the Simba Hybrid Cot Bed Mattress, we have noticed that this has stopped and on a normal night he has slept through from being put down until he wakes up the next morning."

"I like that the cover can be removed and washed in the washing machine in case of accidents," said one pleased parent, with another commenting on how easy this process was, claiming that "it is really easy to wash and hoover the cover and dress the mattress with sheets." It's important to have an easily cleaned mattress during this stage of your baby's life, especially if they're known to have accidents during the night, so we're glad Simba delivered!
Parents were also delighted with the longevity of the design, with one stating that "I loved the fact it was designed to be used beyond the first year of life, with one side of the mattress for a baby below one and the other softer side for babies older than one years," and another tester telling us that "the price is fully justified because of the quality of the mattress. I know it will last for years and it is easily cleaned."
Still, there are qualities that could be improved. One mum told us that "the mattress is easy to install in a standard-sized cotbed, but it can be fiddly to then get back out of the cotbed for cleaning as there is no fabric to grip onto." Another let us know that they had issues when trying to lift it, telling us "this mattress is quite heavy. I was pregnant at the time of delivery and I struggled to get it inside the house." It might be worth keeping a family member or friend on stand-by if you're already deep into pregnancy when you order.
Overall, the testers were very pleased with the Simba mattress. "Since transferring my baby over, her sleep has greatly improved as she no longer has issues rolling over. She sleeps soundly all night long," said a satisfied parent. It seems this product gave them plenty of peace of mind, and they were confident it could keep their kids safe as they slept.
