‘Love. Marriage. Baby Carriage. Life moves fast. However, first-time expectant parents are about to experience new shifts in speed. Grocery runs become a crawl. Dirty diapers are reason to sprint. While second (and third) time parents have more realistic expectations, the VISTA keeps them all moving forward, no matter what life throws their way. The VISTA's intuitive design allows for multiple configurations, making transporting a second and third child a breeze - all while strolling like a single.’

Uppababy Vista 2017 Overview

Not only does this double buggy look beautiful, but it has a huge shopping basket to make life on the go with two in tow easier. It comes with Maxi-Cosi car seat adaptors which are extremely handy. That said, a few of our mum testers found it harder to steer in double mode.

Pros

Huge shopping basket: Our testers praised the spacious shopping basket in the undercarriage. This was a key feature that made it stand out against rival competitors.

Large extendable UV hood: Many of our testers also loved the large extendable hood that shields baby from the sun during days out.

Easy to assemble: Some of our testers found that the Vista 2017 was easy to assemble as well as easy to fold down into a compact fold.

Different seating combinations: As it can be adapted as a double tandem pushchair, you can transport two children in it. It features different seating positions such as rear and parent facing.

Magnetic peep window:

Removable wheels: The wheels are easy to remove, therefore making them easy to clean when they've come into contact with any mud.

Adaptable and versatile: As a travel system, the Vista 2017 is compatible with a number of car seats due to the car seat adapters. Check out our FAQs below to see which car seats are compatible with this model.

Cons

Discontinued: With the newer model, Uppababy Vista V2 available to buy, this product has been discontinued and is unavailable to buy across multiple websites. You can only buy it across a few websites on the web, or secondhand options from the likes of eBay.

More design choices: There were a limited amount of design choices when it came to the Vista 2017 and some testers wished there were more colours and design choices from this model.

Stability: Some of our testers found the pushchair has a tendency to tip and had trouble getting over kerbs.

Difficulty with manoeuvering: Some of our testers found in double mode that the Uppababy Vista 2017 was hard to manoeuvre and difficult to steer.

Functionality as a double: Some testers expressed that the option of a double should have been left out of the Vista 2017 as it didn't perform very well as a tandem pushchair.

Ratings

How has this pushchair been rated across various different websites? Unfortunately, this is hard to tell due to the product being discontinued. However, there's still an odd review across the web. Here are some of the reviews that we found about the Vista 2017.

Albee Baby: 5 out of 5 stars from 81 reviews. One reviewer said, "I love everything about this stroller. It pushes smoothly, the undercarriage storage is giant, and it comes with everything you need! The bassinet is safe for sleeping, and is perfect for winter with how cozy and soft it is inside. The big kid seat has multiple recline settings in both forward and rear facing positions, and even the leg rest is adjustable! This is a perfect stroller all around, and is easily converted into a double for a second child!"

Price

Originally retailing at around £949, the Uppababy Vista 2017 is officially considered in our expensive price bracket. However, as this product has become discontinued, there are models of this available on eBay listed at anywhere from £500 to £120. However, this largely depends on the condition - as they're likely secondhand or have accessories missing.

Testing the Uppababy Vista 2017

At Mother & Baby, we were assisted with help from our Mother & Baby Testers to review the Uppababy Vista 2017. During the testing process, we were testing for its overall performance, usability and build. Here's what our testers had to say about the Vista 2017.

Mother & Baby Tester, Sian, said: "This travel system made me weep with happiness! Everything about it is so EASY! We managed to assemble it in the street (our hallway is too small for a pram) in about 5 minutes with no manual. I managed to fold it open with one hand with the baby in the other arm, with absolutely no swear words involved whatsoever (shouting and swearing is a regular occurrence with my current travel system!). It folds away nicely and can fit comfortably in a smaller car boot."

Mother & Baby Tester, Katie, said: "Yes, I would recommend the Uppababy Vista. I loved the ease of switching between pram and pushchair, and thought the pushchair was beautiful to look at and very sturdy. It is super easy to wipe clean and the ventilation in hood very useful. I also loved that all the extra rain covers were included in one set.

Mother & Baby Tester, Janie, said: "I would choose this travel system as a single but wouldn’t use it as a double. It retains its luxurious appearance and build quality, but does not lend itself easily to a tandem system. The colour options are lovely, the bassinet is padded and comfortable for a newborn, the seat and harness are very easy to use and adjust, and the option to be parent or world-facing is brilliant. However, as a double, the seating combinations aren’t very child friendly."

Mother & Baby Tester, Anna, said: "I wouldn't actually recommend this product in its double capacity, as I think it is much better as just a single pram. That said, it does have some superb features; the footbrake is fantastic, the sun canopies which extend from the hoods have great coverage and putting it together was much easier than other prams we have assembled. The size of the basket is fantastic and the handle adjustment is very easy and can be changed with just one hand."

Mother & Baby Tester, Sarah, said: "Where to start? This is THE best double pushchair I have ever tried. The seats are large so both children have ample space to move around. The various foot positions is great. The seats are easy to recline and the transition from upright to reclined is very smooth so will not wake the child if they have fallen asleep."

Mother & Baby Tester, Charlotte, said: "Great pushchair that can be used while shopping or out and about or one child or as a double pushchair. I love all the different combinations that can be used such as car seat with seat unit, carrycot with seat unit or 2 seat units. The pushchair is easy to push and navigate through the shops with minimal effort."

How does the Uppababy Vista 2017 compare to rival products?

Mother & Baby Tester, Anna, said: "Although the Vista looks classy and initially seems like a good solution for transporting two children of different ages, I would not select it above other double buggies on the market.

When I tried it with the baby in one seat facing me (my 4-month-old was disappointingly too large for bassinet) and with my 2-year-old facing forwards on the front rumble seat, it was extremely difficult to handle, almost dangerous. It was cumbersome to steer around corners and particularly heavy to step on to kerbs.

This is dangerous on busy roads. My 2-year-old was too tall for the seat and it did not look comfortable for a long journey. I prefer my Phil & Teds sport buggy; it is so much easier to handle and much lighter, with less fiddly adapters and is much easier to store."

Mother & Baby Tester, Sian, said: "I loved everything about this travel system. It's usability making it stand out from any other pushchair that I've tried. This was also the only travel system that made my baby boy actually STOP crying... This is normally unheard of! So I am now fully prepared to swap a kidney for this pushchair..."

Mother & Baby Tester, Hannah, said: "It's so easy to swap around the different parts so you can adapt to any situation really quickly. The biggest selling point for this pram though HAS the be the giant basket underneath. I've never seen one so big! At one point I had my changing bag, 4 bags of shopping and a load of loose items from other various shops! The carrier bag charge doesn't apply to me anymore...I have my Vista!!!!!"

Mother & Baby Tester, Jolene, said: "The multiple options of this travel system make this product a winner. It offers more than other systems in the same price bracket. it has so many features, uv sun visor, large storage underneath, viewing window and the removable wheels which allow it to fold down smaller. The seat positions are very easy to move as is the height adjustable handle bar."

Mother & Baby Tester, Jenny, said: "The winner with this pushchair is its ease of use and huge basket underneath that no other brand seems to rival. It has big sturdy wheels to ensure that the ride for baby is super smooth and it feels very light to push. You can easily take the wheels off to get into the car with minimal effort. Lastly, the built in UV protector is a great bonus. It ensures the little one is safe and comfortable on a sunny day."

Mother & Baby Tester, Maria, said: "This pushchair is amazing!! I have bought and used many pushchairs and this has to be one of the best. Both quality and design is exceptional. All the fabrics are of beautiful quality and the frame is sturdy. When used as a tandem both seat units are plenty big with large suncovers to protect from the sun. I used the bottom seat unit with a 3 year old and even though there was a large amount of weight on the front it was still extremely easy to manoeuvre with one hand. The basket underneath is one of the biggest I have ever seen on a pushchair."

Final thoughts

In summary, the 2017 model of the Uppababy Vista impressed the majority of our testers. There were certain functions and features, such as the exceptionally large shopping basket and extendable hood, that stood out. As you can adapt it into a travel system or use it as a tandem pushchair, this was a huge plus for some of our testers.

However, it divided others. They preferred the pushchair as a single and definitely not as a double. As a double, the frame and weight were far too heavy for some parent testers to manoeuvre. Having said that, the majority claimed it made their lives as parents easier due to easy assembly, different seating combinations and spacious elements.
