Testing the Graco EzLite

As a mum of two with a three-year-old boy and a five-month-old baby girl, I am often both time and space-poor, especially when going on holiday or if I just want to pick up that one item from the shop. Enter the Graco EzLite Travel Stroller! When looking at a travel pushchair, I need something that is compact, sturdy but not flimsy and easy to manoeuvre. With lots of competition on the market, Graco sets itself apart as a baby brand name that you can trust, so I had high hopes when it came to testing this product out. Based at a very affordable price point of £50.00, could this pushchair live up to more expensive rivals?

When unboxing the stroller, I was pleasantly surprised to see four main pieces - the chair with handles, two sets of clip-on wheels and a black hood canopy. Whilst assembling equipment isn't always my forte, the clear instructions and click-on components had this pushchair up and ready in less than 10 minutes. On first impressions, I was impressed with the size of the front-lock swivel wheels, which offer durability and longevity on a multitude of terrains and differ from similar price point pushchairs such as the Hauck Sport Pushchair or the Joie Nitro E Lightwear Umbrella Stroller.

Suitable for babies and children from birth to 3 years old (0-15kg), I was keen to test the pushchair with both of my children ranging from a small baby to an active preschooler who sometimes likes to hitch a ride when tired. The pushchair offers an adjustable seat that can move into a reclined position with a fasten buckle at the back of the seat (perfect for naps in the sunshine), three or five point clip harness and movable calf support for longer legs.

When putting my five month old into the stroller, she seemed quite happy in the reclined position but there was a bit of extra space when the seat was in the upright position, so it may be a bit roomy for babies under three months old and Graco advises that newborns should be kept in the recline position when using the stroller. When my three year old tried the seat, he was happy in both the upright and reclined seating positions. Even as a tall three year old, there was enough leg room for him to sit comfortably.

The pushchair was indeed light to pick up and easy to steer around different terrains, including pavement, grass and stones. The stroller handles are nicely padded and offer a good grip. The one-step brake based on the rear wheels is easy to apply by pressing with one foot to lock and lifting to unlock.

The hood canopy offers some sun protection; however, it is not a full sunshade, and the hood size seems quite small in comparison (not as generous as other models such as the Cuggl Rowan Stroller). So, I would advise that you add a universal sunshade to the buggy, especially if visiting hot countries or going out on summer adventures. There also isn't a pocket within the hood canopy, unlike some travel strollers.

The storage basket at the bottom of the pushchair can fit small shopping bags and a few jackets and would struggle to fit large rucksacks or change bags. Still, for the price point and purpose of the pushchair, you are unlikely to use this as your everyday, hard-wearing pushchair so it can easily fit in your holiday essentials or small bags.

When storing away the stroller, the pushchair collapsed easily with a flick of a lever on the right-hand side, which decompressed into a nice flat fold secured with a lock handle, taking away the hassle of a complex take-down and ideal for journeys. With a product length of 83.5cm and a folded length of 108.4cm, the pushchair was storable in SUV or estate car boots with enough room for luggage, but you may struggle with fitting the full width of the stroller in very small car boots (such as our Vauxhall Agila) without some adjustment.

Final verdict

When testing the stroller, we visited lots of places on our summer staycation including the zoo, shopping centres, park walks and garden centres and at each visit, the pushchair held up well for both children.

The Graco EzLite offers great value for money for the retail price point of £50.00, so for those looking for a reliable travel buggy or secondary occasional stroller on a budget, this is an ideal product. I loved how light the stroller is and the strength of the wheels in use, but if I could change anything, it would be to add a bigger hood canopy. Despite this, the Graco EzLite Travel Stroller is now a welcome addition to our travel routine and we will definitely be bringing the stroller with us on our next adventure abroad!
