Testing the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion made a visible difference to stretch marks that were appearing throughout my pregnancy. It helped to lock in the moisture on my belly when my skin was feeling tight and itchy from my growing bump. It has also visibly helped reduce stretch marks since giving birth. I would recommend this product to any mum to be.

The product is easy to apply and goes a long way. It’s light to apply and leaves your skin feeling soft. If you like creams to be odourless, you will like this product. I personally liked the coco butter smell of previous products by palmers. The bottle is easy to extract product from and doesn’t get clogged up like some creams.

The handy pump bottle makes life easier when using the lotion. The lotion is quite a rich formula so the pump makes it easy to disperse even amounts when applying the lotion. The lotion absorbs deeply and evenly into the skin leaving your skin feeling very moisturised and soft. It has a lovely fragrance that has a lasting smell.

I used this Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion once per day (although twice per day is recommended). I’m now 9 weeks postpartum and am yet to see any stretch marks. I found this was a nice cream to apply on an evening before bed as it stays on the skin. The design of the bottle makes it’s easier to apply as it’s a pump and doesn’t get clogged up.

I tested the cream from the third trimester of pregnancy to 3 months postpartum, applying twice a day in the morning and before bed. The pump bottle placed on the bedside table made it easy to remember to apply the cream and to get the right amount out of the bottle without worrying about what to do with any excess cream. When pregnant using the cream allowed me some time to connect to baby whilst running my hands over my abdomen. Postpartum the fact that the stretch marks have faded so fast has given me more body confidence at a time when so much is changing.

I had minimum use of this product as I didn't develop stretch marks. However, it was easy to incorporate into my daily skincare routine. I would have like it to be more of a balm texture rather than a cream, and to have a smaller size which would make travelling with it easier. Although I can't comment on how effective it is on reducing the appearance of stretch marks, this wouldn't be my go-to product if I did have stretch marks.

I would recommend this Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion to a fellow Mum but with a few caveats. My overall impression of the product was that it gets the job done, but it doesn't feel like a treat to use which is something I look for in skincare products. The brand was very recognisable, but the bottle wasn't very easy to use. The size was a bit too big to get into the changing bag alongside all the other things I have to pack for my baby. The texture and smell were ok.

Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion

Final verdict

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks is perfect for mothers who would like to get rid of their stretch marks. This product has proven to leave women's skin feeling smooth and soft after use and leaves the body smelling like coco butter. The pump on the lotion gives the perfect amount of lotion to use and does not get clogged up.
