Testing the Cheeky Rascals Ziza Highchair

I’m a mum of three, currently on maternity leave with my youngest, nine-month-old Alfie. With two older children aged three and six, I know just how much of a difference a good highchair can make - both for your baby’s comfort and your own sanity at mealtimes! This time around, I was looking for something that was not only comfortable and practical but also easy to clean and able to grow with my child as he moved from first tastes to independent eating.

We received the Ziza Highchair and tray when Alfie was seven months old and immediately put it through its paces. Over several weeks, it became a central part of our mealtimes, and I was keen to see how it compared to the other highchairs we’ve used over the years.

The Ziza highchair and tray have a Scandinavian-inspired design with beautiful neutral tones. The highchair is built to stay in the family, suitable from four months old (or when they can sit up on their own) to three years. It is made from 100% solid beechwood with non-slip rubberised legs, a 5-point harness and an adjustable footrest. With smooth surfaces and a machine-washable tray, the highchair is designed to be easy to clean after messy mealtimes.

The highchair arrived well-packaged and, to my relief, was incredibly quick and simple to put together. All the tools were included, and I built it in minutes - a big plus when you have a baby on your hip and two other children racing around! My first thought was how stylish it looked. The smooth white plastic seat paired with the wooden legs gives it a modern, minimalist feel that looks lovely in the kitchen.

Unlike some other highchairs I’ve owned, the Ziza was really easy to get Alfie in and out of, even when he was wriggling and excited for his food. He seemed comfortable sitting in it, and the seat is spacious enough to allow for a bit of growing room. The tray is a great size for both early weaning and bigger meals, and I loved how easily it detached for cleaning. While it’s not always necessary to remove the tray entirely, I did find that bits of food sometimes got trapped in the ridge between the tray and the seat, which meant detaching it was the quickest way to get it spotless.

The harness was simple to use, but we only ended up using it occasionally. Alfie needed a small back cushion to help him sit upright enough to feed himself effectively, and the harness didn’t work well alongside the cushion. I think a built-in option for younger babies between 4–10 months would be a thoughtful addition.

One thing I really appreciated - and didn’t even realise I needed until I had it - was the rubberised feet. This feature stopped the highchair from being nudged or pushed around the kitchen. It felt stable and secure, which gave me real peace of mind.

The only downside to the design is that the legs spread out quite far, which means the chair takes up more floor space than some other models. This wouldn’t be an issue in a bigger kitchen, but in smaller spaces, it could be a potential trip hazard. That said, the wider stance likely adds to the stability, so it’s a bit of a trade-off.

One of the biggest selling points of the Ziza is that it’s designed to grow with your child. I can see Alfie using this comfortably for several more years as it converts from a highchair to a toddler chair, which makes it a worthwhile investment. The overall build quality feels sturdy enough to last well beyond the baby stage.

Final verdict

The Cheeky Rascals Ziza Highchair is a beautiful blend of style and practicality. It’s sturdy, comfortable, and easy to clean, with a thoughtful design that works well for everyday family life. While it’s slightly on the large side for smaller kitchens and could benefit from a back cushion for younger babies, its stability, quality finish, and ability to grow with your child make it a strong contender for any parent looking for a long-term highchair solution. If you want something that looks good, lasts for years, and can handle the chaos of family mealtimes, the Ziza is well worth considering.
