Philips Avent Premium Bottle Steriliser & Dryer

We spoke to these real parent testers to get their review...

How did this product make your life easier?

Cat: This is a great product. It saves the time and space trying to dry sterilised bottles. Quite often, with my traditional steriliser, I’d have to find a sterile surface for them to drip dry on and if this took longer than 24 hours they’d need sterilising again. It was nice for everything to be in one unit and out of the way too so that my limited kitchen space wasn’t impacted too much by the baby’s things.

Helen: This gadget sterilises and dries bottles etc in a short period. It will also just sterilise things if you prefer. The whole cycle takes only forty minutes and you can leave products in there safely for 24 hours and they will remain sterile. It’s a decent size so you can run this once a day and have all the bits you need done and sorted with very little effort required.

Rebecca: This product works perfectly as a steriliser and has the advantage of fitting 6 ‘tall’ bottles plus their lids and teats all in one go. After sterilising it can then also ‘dry’ the bottles for you too - sterilising takes about 10 minutes and drying an extra 40 minutes. Being able to sterilise so many bottles at once really saves me time.

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Stephen: I would recommend this to anyone who has a lot of baby bottles, or any other baby equipment that gets cleaned either daily or every other day. It has a very big container area that can hold, sterilise and dry a lot of products in one go. Looks great too.

Mary: I would definitely recommend this product to a fellow mum as it is very simple to use. It has a large capacity so it takes all day bottles in one go. Bottles are dried and ready to use again in 40 mins. There is no need to have another thing to dry the bottle after being in steriliser. Every parent should have it in their kitchen.

Sulu: I would highly recommend this steriliser and dryer to any fellow mums because it is a simple to use, very efficient product which ensures the highest standards of hygiene whilst also making a tedious task quick, easy and hassle-free. The product comes already assembled so there’s no time to waste on reading long instructions, and it is very straightforward to use. All you need to do is add water to the tank (which can conveniently be measured directly using a baby bottle) and press a button! Voila, the sterilizer starts to work with no fuss, no added chemicals and even more importantly no noise, which is such a great feature when there’s a sleeping baby around! The design is sleek, and it definitely is a quality item that I was proud to have out on my kitchen counter where it fit beautifully. As it’s made of detachable parts, it is also easy to wash and store even in flats like mine where the cabinets are small.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Mary: I would choose this product above all others. It is very simple to use. Instructions are very clear. Bottle comes out germs free and dry. I prefer 2 in 1 machine than buying 2 different items, and it is a time saver. I've been using it only once after the bedtime routine and it lasts after next day.

Zahara: The steriliser is quick and easy to use. And once the button is pressed, it does not need any further attending to. It sterilises and dries the bottles for you. I would say this product deserves to win as you get alot for the price of the product. It is very spacious as well which means all baby accessories can be sterilised at the same time.

Rebecca: There are cheaper ways to sterilise bottles and accessories. However, for some people the ease of this product will really appeal. It takes up such little space on the worktop for the amount of items you can put in it, it is so easy to operate and has a quick turnaround time. The items come out sterile and dry which is a great convenience, you can just pick up one of the sterile items and use it straight away. If you are looking for an all-in-one product that sterilises, dries and stores then this is definitely the product to choose.

What changes would you make to this product?

Cat: This is tricky! I'd like something smaller and easier to store but I did like how many things could be sterilised at once, so perhaps the only other turn off would be the price.

Helen: If I could change one thing I would add a series of lights eg a green one for the last ten minutes of the cycle and I would also add a discrete beep for when the cycle is finished and your products are ready to use. I think that would be helpful, especially in the early days, for example if you wanted to run this and then take bottles out with you.

Rebecca: If the drying function was quicker it may make the product more worthwhile and make me more likely to use it. As it is, I am happy for my bottles to be put back together wet as it doesn’t affect the sterility and means the bottles are ready much more quickly. If you are someone who desperately wants your bottles sterilised and then dried for you then this is an excellent product that will do that job.
