Testing the Momcozy Wearable Breast Pump S12 Pro

I’m Sophie, a mum to two under two. I breastfed my daughter until she was one year old and have used a number of pumps in the past, but never a hands-free one.

In May, I gave birth to my little boy, and once breastfeeding was established, I quickly realised I needed a pump that allowed me to express milk while still having two hands free to care for my children. That’s where the Momcozy Wearable Breast Pump S12 Pro came in. I was also drawn to its variety of pumping modes, which I hoped would allow for faster expressing compared to traditional pumps.

The initial setup was a bit tricky, mainly due to the poor instructions. I had to search for guidance online. Assembling the pump after washing also requires care to ensure a proper seal to avoid leaks. However, there aren’t too many parts, and the silicone components are very easy to clean.

Once you're familiar with the setup, the pump is very user-friendly. The first couple of uses were fiddly, but it became much easier after that. It’s simple to disassemble for cleaning, but when putting it back together, you must ensure a tight seal.

It was comfortable to wear for the full duration, although proper positioning over the nipple is important for optimal results. One thing to note is that the flange is on the larger side - I personally needed to use a smaller one for a comfortable fit. But once properly fitted, I experienced minimal leaking.

The pump worked well overall. The different settings - especially the mixed mode - effectively expressed a good volume of milk fairly quickly. As an example, I expressed about 240ml across both cups in 20 minutes.

The user-friendly LED screen and variety of pumping modes really set this pump apart. I found the mixed mode particularly effective for encouraging letdown more quickly than other pumps. The memory function is another standout feature - it remembers your preferred settings, saving you the hassle of re-adjusting each time. I also found the timer helpful for keeping track of expressing sessions.

The battery life was excellent, much better than that of other pumps on the market, such as the Elvie pump. With daily use over two weeks, I only needed to charge the pump twice.

There is a small recess for pouring milk, which you must be mindful of to avoid spills. The lids included with the pump help prevent spillage during milk storage.

Although it’s not completely discreet, this wasn’t a problem for me, as I planned to use it at home. The screen does protrude slightly from the bra, but the ability to access and adjust settings mid-use outweighed this for me. The design is sleek, modern, and very comfortable to wear.

Final verdict

I would definitely recommend the Momcozy Wearable Breast Pump S12 Pro. Once you get used to the settings, it’s very effective and easy to use. It looks sleek, is comfortable to wear, and offers hands-free convenience for busy mums. The only significant downside is the fiddly setup, especially the need to ensure the cups are sealed properly, which can be time-consuming.

While I didn’t mind the bulkiness, others may prefer a pump that’s more discreet when worn - something to consider depending on your needs. Overall, this is a solid mid-range pump with strong features, great suction, and amazing battery life. It offers excellent value for money compared to more expensive alternatives.
