The Joie Dreamer Bouncer is an ultra-slim, compact foldable baby bouncer with a 3-point harness, 3 seat positions, and an adjustable leg rest. This battery-operated seat gently rocks and bounces and is suitable from birth to 9kg in rocker mode or birth to 15kg in stationary mode. But how does it hold up to real testing?

Testing the Joie Dreamer Bouncer

For only £75, this item really holds its own in the market given its multi-functionality - we have a similar item that was more expensive that only offers one use as a swing. The product itself comes well packaged and was really easy and quick to assemble. The instructions are easy to follow with images showcasing how to assemble the product and use the added functions.

My 5-month-old (measuring 62cm and 6.9kg, for reference) tested the product with my husband and me, testing the different functions on the chair. This item is so handy and can be used in a variety of ways. Being battery-operated and lightweight, we were able to move it around the house easily to keep him occupied throughout the day. Our 5-month-old loved the vibrating function and really enjoyed being bounced with our feet.

We also used it in stationary mode when doing chores around the house, turning the lullabies on to keep him occupied and attaching the mobile, which is multi-sensory, ensured he remained engaged. The vibrations and lullabies/nature sounds along with the cocoon style seat gave maximum comfort, and with adjustable positions little one was able to see more of his surroundings and felt more included in comparison to other similar chairs that are lower down and more reclined - in those, he can get fussy quicker, as he wants to be sat up and part of the action!

Being short on space with all the paraphernalia that comes with a baby, the Joie Dreamer is a perfect item, as it folds flat and doesn’t take up much space at all. The lap restraint has a 3-point harness that makes it so quick to strap your little one in. It's handy when you need to soothe them quickly as you aren't messing around with lots of adjustable straps and bits but he was still secure. The removable washable cover is a great addition, and with this being such an adjustable item with the chair and the footrest, I'm sure it will see him through for a long time.

The bouncer is battery-operated, meaning it can be used anywhere. We used the chair every day for 10 days, multiple times with the vibrate and sound functions on, and the batteries we used didn’t run out.

The volume of the sounds isn't too loud, but still loud enough to soothe your little one. I also really like that you can turn off the sounds while keeping the vibrating function going on - in several other similar products, they are all linked, so if you want one feature off, you need to turn them all off. Generally, my baby wanted the vibrating function over the sounds, so it was really good that you could use them separately.

Final verdict

Overall, I would highly recommend this item. It's a great space-saving item that is multifunctional and will grow with your child. I think I will still get a few months' use out of it, at least! It’s great quality, and my child loves it.
