Galt’s Fill & Spill Barn is a simple toy that’s easy to use and great for imaginative play. It’s durable, comprising natural materials and attractive colours. The barn door is big enough for all the pieces, which are tactile (nice and chunky) and perfect for little hands. The roof is a ‘lid’ that allows for easy emptying and slots back onto the barn effortlessly.
The toy is a little generic and perhaps a little too basic for the 12-24 month age group, with little ones inclined to get bored quickly. It might work better for toddlers if the barn incorporated shape sorting – different shaped holes for the different animals.
Dr Miriam Stoppard's play guide is a handy endorsement but the toy is pricey albeit good quality.
