At a glance:

This lovely zebra baby walker will definitely grab your baby’s attention! Lightweight enough to take with you to Granny’s house, our panel of mum testers loved the various lights and music features from a brand they trust. That said, they wished it was foldable so it was easier to pop in the boot of the car.

What they say:

“From teaching first words to encouraging first steps, the Fisher-Price® Learn with Me Zebra walker is the kind of first friend you want for your little one! Spin, flip, roll, click, and twist. This zebra’s full of busy, hands-on activities for sitting babies. Your tot can turn the book page or press the light-up buttons to learn all about ABC’s & 123’s through sing-along songs and phrases with new animal friends! And when baby’s learning to walk, the easy-grasp handle and sturdy 4-wheel base help steady those wobbly first steps. “Keep going!” Lots of fun phrases, music & songs invite and reward even more moving & grooving — helping little ones get even steadier on their feet! (And letting mums breathe easier.)”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone with a little one who is starting to move around. It is extremely easy to put up, only taking around five to ten minutes. It’s wipe-clean, which I think is an essential with baby toys! The toy itself isn’t too big, which is great for someone who only has a very small front room, and means my little one can walk and play with plenty of space to do so.

How did the product make your life easier?

The walker helps me in a number of ways, as my little boy is able to stroll around safely. It’s well built, sturdy, and keeps the little one well entertained if he’s just sat playing with all the products’ countless features, giving me some time to get the washing up done! The lightweight design is also perfect for transporting to Granny’s house, and on holidays.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would love this product to win. It's well thought out and has such a lovely design. You can never go wrong with Fisher-Price toys, and this does not disappoint. The features all have curious babies in mind, with the lights and music keeping them entertained. All of the moveable parts have kept my little one’s interest for hours on end, with no sign of that changing anytime soon.

What changes would you make to the product?

Allowing the product to fold would help make putting it in the car easier, but other than that, both my son and I love the product to bits. It'll help with his fine and gross motor skills, and be a great toy for him to enjoy playing with on his new walking journey!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

It’s very educational, and the songs are fantastic and suitably encouraging for a baby learning to walk. It’s really easy to build at home, though it doesn't fold, so can be a bit bulky to store away or take with you when visiting family or friends. That said; I love the zebra design, which really helps it stand out from other walkers on the market.

How did this product make your life easier?

My little boy loves this toy. The activity panel on the front has plenty to grab his attention, and he will quite happily sit playing whilst I can carry on with day-to-day household chores. It has become a firm favourite of his, and he will happily flick between the walker and all his other toys throughout the day. It has also been a great addition to help him grow more confident on his feet, which is brilliant.

The only factor stopping me from choosing this to win an award over similar toys on the market is the price. A majority of my shopping for children's toys has to be done online, and when comparing it to others without being able to physically see it, the price may seem a bit steep. If I were to see it in a shop alongside other walkers, where you could see first-hand the countless features and the clever, unique design, it would be my first choice. You really have to see it to believe it.

What changes would you make to this product?

Other than lowering the price, the only other thing I would change about this product is increasing the traction of the wheels. They move quite freely, and I feel that for a baby learning to walk, if they were to put their full body pressure onto it the wheels can sometimes move too quickly, causing it to go out from under them and end up landing flat on their face! Also, if it were foldable, it would be significantly easier to pop into the boot of the car to take to the park.

This product was relatively easy to put together. I initially thought it was a bit flimsy but it was sturdy once it was finished. It also looked a lot more basic than other push along walkers I had seen, but my little girl really enjoys using it, which surprised me. I would recommend it if you don’t have space for a traditional sit in walker, but it had few stand out features for me.

How did this product make your life easier?

Not all that much, to be honest. As it is pushed along, I have to ensure that if my little girl is standing up, that it doesn't ‘run away’ from her on our wooden floors. If she is sitting with it using the activity side, I often have to make sure she doesn't keep pulling at the tabs and hitting herself on the head with them when she tries to use that side to stand up.

While there were no particular standout features of this product that wowed me, my little girl loves it, which I suppose would be the main selling point. I think the simple design and it not being too fussy and busy made a big difference in her enjoyment, as she could focus on one thing at a time and not be too overwhelmed.

What changes would you make to this product?

The option for it to fold away would be a big improvement, as we are limited on space. Another possible feature could be ‘half way’ handles for little ones who can’t quite reach the full handle at the top. My little girl keeps trying to reach the handle to pull herself up, but can’t quite reach it just yet, so one half-way up would keep her balanced, safe, and stop her stretching too much.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would, for a number of reasons. It was really easy to build, managing to do so myself in about five minutes. Instructions were clear and simple to follow. I love the design; it is really cheerful and interesting to look at, and there are lots of different features for babies to explore and enjoy, with added sounds and songs to go with them. It also feels really sturdy compared to some other walkers I have experienced, with my daughter being able to pull herself up on it without it tipping.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product hasn't made life easier as such, but as a walker it is great and does exactly what it should. My little girl really enjoys playing with all of the exciting features on the front and listening to the fun sounds they make as she does so. It has helped her develop her sensory skills, and has definitely helped to improve her balance as well.

Would you choose this product to win?

Sure. It has a solid, sturdy design that my daughter really enjoys. The addition of a brake and firmer, stiffer wheels would help, I think.

What changes would you make to this product?

This walker would really benefit from having some kind of brake. When my daughter first started standing with it, it would roll away from her quite easily, and she would then struggle to move with it. A brake would really help to allow babies to improve and learn to gain balance before it started rolling away, and would also help when playing with the front.

Tested by mum Bethany Morris for the Mother & Baby Awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to friends, family, or anyone who is looking for a good, quality walker. It's colourful and fairly easy to put together, and is very baby friendly. Due to it being so light, it's easy to carry around and the plastic parts can be wiped clean after each use.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product is very good. It has really helped to teach my little boy how to strengthen his legs, and help him learn how to balance unaided. I find it easier using the walker rather than holding on to my little boy’s hands, and in letting him walk around with this, he can be freer and more independent with his learning and walking.

Would you choose this product to win?

I like this walker a lot. It is good quality, lightweight and mobile, and the instructions that come with the walker to assemble it are really straightforward. Considering the quality of the product I think the price is very good, as some walkers are over-priced and not very good quality, or are awkward to put together. I also like that it is more than suitable for either sex of child with its attractive, engaging, unisex design.

What changes would you make to this product?

Putting the walker together could be made easier. While the instructions are clear, there are also some small, fiddly parts that can be tricky to click together. However, once it's been finished and is ready to roll, it's great to use.
