Toothache is bad enough for us adults, so imagine what your 3-month-old might say if they could talk. You've tried teething gelsteething necklaces and even teething mittens, but nothing beats good old-fashioned teething rings for babies' sore gums. Plus, you can always use a combination of all of the above if that works for baby.

However, the terrific thing about teething rings or 'soother rings' is that some can also be popped into the refrigerator. In other words, that discomfort and inflammation of painful gums? That'll all be forgotten about when the coolness of a gel teething ring soothes those sore gums.

However long teething is lasting for your baby, here's our round-up of the best teething and soother rings for babies.

Review: "I didn’t buy this originally as it can’t be sterilised. However I am so pleased I bought it! My 4-month-old loves this! It is really easy for him to hold as both hands can grip each side, as it is a hoop it can go in without his hands! It is the best teething toy we have. Others are too thick for him to hold and manoeuvre. I wash it with soapy water and swill it thoroughly."

Review: "Product ok for my 4-month-old, it is a little heavy for him to hold at the moment, I have to assist but overall a good product for babies who put everything in their mouth. Water filled at one side and a rattle toy at the other side, can also be put in fridge to cool, easy to wipe clean also."

Review: "Very very cute, easy to hold. Good enough soft texture. It can only be washed with warm soapy water or just water, it cannot be sterilized or boiled. The liquid inside is safe because I contacted customer service and they told me it's distilled water."

Review: "Love the idea of this going in the fridge for comfort. It stays cool long enough to ease any discomfort on my babies teeth. He’s very interested in playing with them as well as using them as intended. He’s an early teether as well so I was worried that he wouldn’t know what to do with them but he’s picked it up like a pro. Would recommend to anyone with teething babies!"

Review: "This is great for little hands. It has multi use which is awesome. Large enough to hold or to sit on a lap, seems very sturdy and durable. Great for chewing or just to keep entertained. I love the added rattle part for more entertainment fun. This is a must have for little hands."

Review: "Omg there are no words to describe how amazing these things are!! I have 4-month-old twins and I got to drink a hot cup of tea today because of the matchstick monkeys. They are easy to hold for small hands and small enough for them to chew on. This is honestly one of the best baby things I've bought."

FAQs

When does teething start for babies?

Teething in babies can start anywhere between 3 months and 12 months old, but most babies will usually begin this stage at around 6 months old.

The teething stage can last up until they're around 2-years-old, so make sure to get those teething rings to see them through! While this is an uncomfortable time for babies, it's also inevitable, so all you can do is try and reduce their discomfort as much as possible with the help of teething remedies.

Here's some advice from the NHS.

What are the signs of teething in babies?

There are several different signs and symptoms of teething in babies. Sometimes this overlaps with symptoms of other illnesses, like fever. Symptoms like irritability, lack of appetite and sleeping problems might overlap. However, the main signs of teething are excessive dribbling, chewing and gnawing, and red gums.
