At a glance:

The Babease Organic First Tastes Range is packed full of interesting combinations for your tot, introducing new foods from an early age. We love that the pouch avoids food wastage, but wish you could recycle them!

What they say:

“Our delightfully smooth Stage 1 recipes are a perfect introduction to first flavours that are gentle on your baby’s taste buds and tums. Suitable for babies around six months.”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, I would! They are great value for money, are very competitively priced and there is a wide selection of flavours to choose from. They also don’t stain clothing like a lot of other baby food brands do which saves time spent scrubbing stains out. They are easy to use and are a great consistency for weaning. What’s more, I enjoyed the tastes as much as my son did which is a bonus!

How did the product make your life easier?

My son is dairy intolerant so this was a quick and tasty introduction to foods he hasn’t tried before. I’m happy to report he liked them all and enjoyed trying the different flavour combinations. The size of the pouch made it really easy to just pop one in my bag and go out for the day without having to find feeder pot lids.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes and no! If it was on offer I would stock up, however I tend to only use these if I’m travelling as otherwise it is cheaper to make my own food for my son. That said, because they are dairy free I would probably choose these over other brands as I know they are safe for my son.

What changes would you make to the product?

I would prefer to be able to recycle the packaging to make it more environmentally friendly. I’d also like it if there was a ‘how to make this at home’ section on the website!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The pouches are very easy to use and store away, whether at home or on the go. They can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours which I like, as it prevented waste of food. Babease have more interesting and varied food combinations than any other products I’ve seen. I’m not sure my baby would have had a chance to try brown rice or quinoa at such an early stage if I’d used another product, but he loved it! They are made with organic ingredients and have no additives so I had no concerns that my baby wasn’t getting enough nutrients or varied tastes.

How did the product make your life easier?

The pouches are very easy to use. The combination of ingredients are tasty and because they are organic and have no added sugars or salts, I feel reassured that my baby is having a healthy and varied diet. I like that the pouches are versatile and can be served at room temperature straight out of the pouch, or can be heated up in hot water and served warm. This makes it so much easier and less stressful to feed my baby when I’m out and about and on the go.

Would you choose this product to win?

I think this product should win because the range has a more varied and interesting selection. It differs from the bland ‘one fruit’ or ‘one veg’ pouches out there. It combined different flavours and textures in one pouch which made weaning more exciting and interesting for my baby.

What changes would you make to the product?

I would perhaps change the packaging which seems a bit bland a bit bland and dull – it doesn’t really catch the eye and I would probably walk past it in the supermarket. I also found at the very early stages of weaning he was eating such small amounts that I was wasting most of the pouch. Perhaps the brand could introduce a smaller pouch for stage 1 to prevent food wastage.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, I would definitely recommend this range of food! The flavours of each of the pouches are true to what is advertised, and I feel that the mixture of frit and veg in the pouches are good combinations for first starter foods.

How did the product make your life easier?

I found these pouches great for days out as they are super convenient to squeeze into a bowl after warming in a jug. It also helps that the pouches have a screw on cap so that there are no spills in my changing bag if my daughter isn’t ready for the whole pouch. It’s a bonus being able to use the pouch rather than worrying about making a meal before leaving the house.

Would you choose this product to win?

Absolutely, as this is my first child I was unsure what the best product on the market was and have tried multiple brands. After trying these Babease pouches we would not use any others. They are flavorsome and the textures of the foods are good and not too runny or too thick – my daughter loves them.

What changes would you make to the product?

The only things I would suggest is that Babease stock the pouches in more stores as at the moment I have only been able to purchase them on Tesco and Amazon. I would also hope that Babease bring out a wider range of flavours in the future, however I would highly recommend these to anyone starting to wean their baby.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The Babease first tastes weaning range is a great product to use as a new mum, it has made life a lot easier and taken the stress out of weaning for me. Personally, I feel that when you start weaning your child it’s like a minefield of information and sometimes it’s good to have everything spelled out on the back of the packet, telling you exactly what is in the product. The pouches are good because you don’t have to endure the mess of cooking everything yourself and the mix of flavours in the range keeps it interesting for my daughter. She has really enjoyed the range.

How did the product make your life easier?

I really enjoyed testing the Babease first tastes weaning range and so did my little one. I think the thing that stood out the most was the difference in ingredients, which was not like any of the other stage one weaning range. Babease have obviously spent a lot of time and effort creating this product and it shows. It is easy to use when you are out and about and it’s great to store in your changing bag.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would personally choose this product over any other baby food because it tells me exactly what is in the packet and what percentage of each ingredient is used. I also like the fact that they don’t use a large amount of water in this product, as a lot of the other baby foods on the market seem to taste a bit watered down. The main thing about this product that stands out for me is the difference in ingredients, which makes it an exciting new taste for your baby.

What changes would you make to the product?

There isn’t much I would change about the range – overall, I really enjoyed testing Babease and so did my little one. The only worry I did have was that the consistency of the pumpkin and pea pouch was a little thick for my daughter.

Tested by mum Becky Bradshaw for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I wouldn’t really recommend it no. The price is too high and in this day and age I think mums want cheaper products and £1.19 is just too much. Although the product looks nice, the food inside isn’t very appealing and a few of my mummy friends said it wasn’t something they would use.

How did the product make your life easier?

It’s a quick and easy alternative to cooking a meal for your baby if you’re out and about – it’s easy to just twist it open and pop it into a bowl if you don’t have the time to cook.

Would you choose this product to win?

Like I previously said, I think the price point is just a little high. The main difference with the Babease Organic First Tastes Range is the flavours, however when I buy food for my little one, I like to be able to replicate what I’d prepare and cook for myself. The things in the pouches are not something I’d prepare at home.

What changes would you make to the product?

I think lowering the price and adding some more daily meals to the range would make it more appealing. When I buy jars for my son, I look for healthy day to day meals like spaghetti bolognaise, cauliflower cheese, beef hotpot etc.
