Testing the Ladybird Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Dragon Board Book

One mum said: "We love reading books at bedtime in our house and we already have a couple of the paperback ten minutes books. This board book is a fantastic addition to our 'library' of bedtime reading, its so much easier to turn the pages of a smaller solid book whilst sitting with a wriggly toddler, I am able to hold and turn the pages with one hand. The story is nice like with the other books and the illustrations are excellent."

Another tester agreed: "This Little Dragon book is one of those lovely easy readers that rhymes all the way through and keeps my little one engrossed. The book is bright, colourful and counts down which is great for aiding little ones with counting. The story is of a little dragon's adventures as they count down to bedtime but stumble across an egg that has started to crack so they must get it back to its nest before bedtime. The book is very well made especially for little hands making it hard to break/rip."

This mum liked that it introduced the idea of a bedtime routine: "The Little Dragon book is based on a really good concept - the countdown to bedtime, it sets the scene really well for a bedtime story whilst also promoting thoughts about time. It allows a solid framework for the book to tell an exciting and engaging story within a setting where bedtime is constantly referred to - allowing a natural tapering off to allow the children to calm down before bed.

"The story line is very clear and my daughter really seems to understand the story. She is fully engaged everytime we read the book. The pictures are so clear and simple as well as the wording. The pages have the perfect amount of words, short and to the point. The book has really helped my daughter to get an understanding with time telling!"

Another tester also liked the illustrations: "This is a really gorgeous book, the pictures are visually engaging for small ones and the rhyming makes for a fabulous bedtime story. It is easy to read several times over, a must for parents with toddlers and helps with the wind down to bedtime. A good size for small hands whilst still keeping the quality of the illustrations.

"Board books are always going to be a parenting win - the child can read on their own without causing accidental destruction and resulting meltdowns. It’s lovely to have a book they can hold and point to the pictures. Having set bedtime books in rotation can help bench mark the time of day and get your little one ready for bed."

Final thoughts

The Little Dragon Board book is an excellent story book for children. It's an easy read with gorgeous pictures to keep the children engaged while reading along. The storyline is calming and will hopefully have the little ones to sleep in no time.
