Awards

The Out 'n' About Nipper Single won Bronze in the Mother&Baby Awards 2025 for Best Pushchair. It's a superb choice for a busy mum, and our testers took their time with it to highlight all the best points and things to change. Check out what they had to say!

"The pram is really easy to fold down and unfold again, and I love how easily it manoeuvres," said one pleased parent. Several others agreed with their point on manoeuvrability. One tester told us that "the big wheels take the bumps easily and the single wheel at the front makes it very easy to steer. The seat itself is far softer, more fitted and padded than other prams we have tried."

The Out 'n' About is at its best on tough ground, so it's perfect for parents that like to travel too - one mum said that "it is extremely well built and durable. The structure feels really safe and sturdy and can cope with being pushed across tricky terrain." Another told us that "we used it at a fair on farmland and our five-month-old slept soundly! I like the design and usability, although it is still quite large when folded."

The additional features also lived up to expectations, with one mum happily pointing out the "great zip pockets in the hood and great little storage basket and storage behind the seat!" Another praised the build of the pram. "The quality is superb, it is extremely well built and durable," said the tester, going on to tell us that "the structure feels really safe and sturdy, which is really important to me." It's amazing how much peace of mind a durable build can give to parents.

Two of our testers took the Out 'n' About Single to the beach for the ultimate test - sandy ground. "We like to take the children with us when we walk our dog and it is perfect for going across rough terrain. The big wheels manage to get across fields and the beach and my son never complains about it being bumpy," reported one, whilst the other told us "we have tested it thoroughly on our daily walks, in shops, in country parks and also on the beach. It has been really easy to manoeuvre across multiple terrains. I must say the robust wheels really do make a difference on the beach, it was a lifesaver to pull across the sand fully loaded with our bags too!"

Overall, our testers were thrilled with this pram. A particularly active parent that tried the pram summed it up well: "I have been super impressed with this pram, it really does have the ‘wow’ factor and is perfect for an active/busy lifestyle," she said.

Testing the Nipper Single

The Nipper Single was easy to use, fold and store. This is for me a highlight as it is so easy to put up and take back down. It’s lightweight to lift in and out of the car, and it is easy to change from folded to upright and vice versa. It just seems to pop up to the position. The transportability of the buggy is great, it fits in the boot of my car comfortably.

The reclining positions work great as there are different options; my baby loves being nosy, so the upright position was definitely his favourite, and he loved holding onto the bumper bar to get a better position to see! However, the low reclining position is also amazing when your baby has a nap. The seat is soft and comfortable for the baby, and it's roomy too! My little boy always looks so cosy and content when he is in it.

The fabric and colour are certainly to our taste. Although I have a boy, the colour would be perfect for either gender. Another advantage of the fabric is that it's easy to clean - we simply use a damp sponge and it brings marks out easily (and as you can imagine, a 20-month-old, who loves a snack on the go can make a mess!) The rain cover slots over the buggy, and is easy to use. The storage within the product is quite small but still has ample room for bits and bobs for an outing.

We tend to use this buggy for off-road walks. We live close to lots of woodland walks, and this buggy has been a godsend as it has allowed us to take our baby out on the bumpy paths and grassy areas. The buggy is comfortable to push – easy to manoeuvre around - it is just the right weight, not too heavy but sturdy when out, especially on uneven ground. It is smooth to push and easy to steer, handles kerbs and bumps with ease. The tyres are air-filled and strong. It is a good size too, not too clumpy and big, but roomy for the baby.

It is lightweight, but at the same time, it feels very sturdy to steer, even over the uneven ground. The wheels drive smoothly, making it a comfortable experience for both me and my baby. The steering is strong and the spring suspension copes really well when off-roading, especially through muddy tracks and uneven woodland trail paths. As a taller lady (5ft 8), the adjustable handle is definitely a positive for me as it makes it so much more comfortable to steer.

It is perfect for both day-to-day travel on the paths and for off-road routes. As a family, we love being outdoors; we love walking up the countryside paths, which can be bumpy and often uncomfortable for the baby, but the Nipper Single allows for smooth travel. We have tested in all weathers and not found any problems.

The canopy on this pram is larger than similar products and is perfect for keeping the sun out of your baby’s eyes. Equally, the rain cover is also great, my baby always stays dry when we have used the cover on the pram!

For me, the main positive was the weight of the product. As a mother who had a C-section operation, I find lifting things can cause me to have back pain; however, as mentioned above, folding and lifting the Nipper Single into my car was easy and caused no pain or problem due to it being so lightweight.

The buggy is of a really good size. Similar products we have looked at or tried have been too clumpy and heavy. This has the perfect balance of the right size, together with the sturdiness to be able to travel off-road and not worry!

Final thoughts

The buggy is really good, however, the one thing that I found difficult was adjusting the harness. The straps are stiff, and even after lots of use I have still found it hard to adjust them. They are fitted so you are actually pushing the strap through in the opposite way. This can be hard as the straps need to be adjusted when my baby is in the different reclining positions.

Putting the seat back up to the upright position is also quite difficult as it is just a drawstring mechanism to push back to position, but overall, the fact that he can lie down comfortably overrides this flaw for me.

The seat is also not very supportive when the baby is sat up (as it’s just held in place by the drawstring cord mechanism) but saying that, my baby does love lying down in this buggy when we are walking and is clearly comfortable, as he often will have himself a cheeky nap.

I would buy this over other similar products and would recommend to parents who like to get outdoors like us and are looking for a buggy that can keep up!
