Testing the Ickle Bubba Roxby Chair

I tested this product as a parent in my late 20s with a 7-month-old baby. I’m still breastfeeding and often doing 2-3 night feeds, so a comfortable, supportive chair is essential in my day to day (and night to night) routine. I’m also petite (5ft 2), so comfort and accessibility matter a lot, especially as bulky furniture can feel overwhelming in a smaller nursery space, and I can sometimes feel like I’m not getting the right support.

I used the Ickle Bubba Roxby Chair and Stool over the course of a month, using it daily and nightly for feeding, cuddling, and even just some quiet wind-down time with our baby before bed. The chair felt very supportive, especially during long feeding sessions. It was also surprisingly easy to get in and out of (especially with a sleepy baby)!

Build

On arrival, the packaging was rather large, so I was a little apprehensive as to whether the chair would fit in our nursery without it feeling cramped, however, we didn’t have a problem! The packaging was tidy and minimal (not too much unnecessary plastic), and assembly instructions were simple and clear. For its size and quality, the price feels fair.

Putting the chair together was thankfully quick and fuss-free. I did have help but could have easily done this on my own. It was mostly pre-assembled, with just the legs to attach. The instructions were clear and everything you needed was included. Once assembled, the chair looked great! It’s a very modern design with soft curves and a neutral fabric that blends in beautifully with our nursery.

As mentioned previously, despite the chair looking quite large in the box, it’s actually much more compact in person and fits nicely in our modest-sized nursery. The footstool is a nice touch, though it doesn’t tuck away neatly under the chair, which would’ve been ideal for tighter spaces.

Performance and comfort

The chair is exceptionally comfortable. The fabric feel almost velvety and is very soft to touch, and the seat is well-padded but without being too deep. One of the standout features for me is the height of the armrests, they’re just right for breastfeeding or bottle feeding, allowing your arms to rest without strain.

The gentle rocking motion is subtle, not vigorous or overwhelming, which is perfect for both soothing and sleepy nighttime feeds. It’s calming without feeling like you’re going to wake the baby with movement. I didn’t think I’d use the footstool at first, however, I’m a convert and it really adds a level of relaxation, especially making those middle-of-the-night feeds a bit more manageable. My partner also used the chair occasionally and agreed that it was lovely. He’s 6ft 2 and said the chair also felt incredibly supportive for him too.

After a few feeds, my baby brought up milk back up but the chair wipes clean really easily. I just used a damp cloth and the chair was good as new again and the material seems to resist stains well so far, although I really haven’t tested this.

It’s not the kind of chair you can completely take apart to wash, but that hasn’t been a problem, nor am I planning on it being! When not in use, the chair doesn’t take up much visual space and is easy to move around if needed.

What impressed me the most was how well the chair supported my posture. Unlike my previous nursing chair, which left me sore after long feeds, this one offers good lower back support and a gentle recline that takes pressure off your body. I didn’t expect the comfort level to be quite as good as it is, so this was a very welcome surprise!

Final verdict

Overall, the Ickle Bubba Roxby Nursery Chair and Stool was incredibly comfortable, I loved the gentle rocking, and the stylish design at a really reasonable price point. It’s ideal for parents who are still doing night feeds and want a chair that’s genuinely pleasant to sit in for extended periods. It suits both smaller and larger nurseries, and while it doesn’t offer hidden storage or a reclining mechanism, it is perfect for feeding and bonding with your baby.

I would absolutely recommend the Roxby. It’s perfect for parents setting up a nursery or anyone still in the trenches of frequent night feeds. The comfort makes a world of difference to those long, long nights. My partner and I both used the chair, and we agreed that it made those sleepy early hours feel just a bit more manageable.
