Disposable nappies cost about 10p each; reusable ones can cost upwards of £10 each, but they should save you money in the long run. For a newborn, you will need from six to eight nappies per day.

Buy in bulk and look for the lowest price by nappy. Keep in mind that nappies also have expired date, so don’t buy too many in advance, as you don’t want to lose them. Or opt forreusable nappies which can help save the environment.

Every time you change your baby's nappy, you will need to clean your little one with wipes (unless you choose to use water and cotton wool), so wipes are the second most-used baby product. Wipes work out at about 1p per wipe.

Buying bulk will help you save money on wipes. Look out for sales that include nappies and wipes in the same package.

You'll often use a nappy cream to prevent nappy rash. One of the best-used products is Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment, which is about £7/100g.
