How did this product make your life easier?

Ruby: I started using this product in the last weeks of pregnancy and I’m now in my first weeks of breastfeeding. It is a lovely consistency and easy to apply. I am pleased to report that I have completely bypassed the stage of cracked and sore nipples after the initial stage of my milk coming in. In my previous experiences the first weeks are so saw through the transition I’m really happy to say no tears of pain have been shed due to this product.

Alison: As a Mum, a lot of thought and energy goes into doing the best for your baby, and throughout pregnancy mums are advised on the huge benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby. I always wanted to breastfeed my baby, but initially it was painful while my body adapted and baby learned to latch. The Lansinoh Organic Nipple Balm is a very good quality product that eases discomfort and offers some protection to really help new mums to get through those early days and weeks of establishing breastfeeding. The Lansinoh Balm is safe for mum and baby, with no need to remove the product before feeding, no smell or taste, and no additives or preservatives. As an additional benefit, the Lansinoh Organic Nipple Balm can be used on areas of dry skin and is absorbed very quickly.

Sashania: It’s a slightly thicker consistency than the tube version meaning less is used and the fact it is in a tub instead of a tube. Not having to remove/wipe off before breastfeeding is a life saver as well! The fact it’s organic is even better, as I worry about ingredients in products for my children. It’s been a lifesaver product especially during the first few weeks when little one was learning to latch properly

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Katie: It’s a nice oil based nipple balm as an alternative to the normal thicker balms like the lansinoh lanolin balm. It would be a great option if you weren’t keen on the texture of thicker ones or wanted one that didn’t contain lanolin (however I think lanolin is a key ingredient for ultimate protection and healing!)

Mhari: This product is very easy to use and quick to apply. It absorbs very quickly and gets to work quickly too. The design of the product is very nice too. It looks like a high-end product and not like an obvious tube of nipple balm which some may not like. Very happy with this and would certainly recommend it.

Ruby: Absolutely, the pot is a great size and it will see me through the whole transitional period of absolutely needing it and then some. It is an oily soft consistency similar to a coconut oil so there is no firm rubbing the product which can create pain while doing so. It is so easy to use I would definitely recommend.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Alison: Lansinoh is a highly regarded brand for products to support breastfeeding, and this beautifully presented organic nipple balm is an excellent product which would be useful for all mums trying to breastfeed, and also for use on dry skin patches on both mum and baby. The natural ingredients make it a good choice for a newborn baby and the scent free, taste free formula makes this organic nipple balm a top choice. This product would be a good candidate to win the best new mum and maternity skincare category, although there may be some more transportable alternatives that would beat this balm to the top spot.

Sashania: Yes because I know it works! It’s a bit pricey for the size, however a little goes a long way so will last a long while and it has multiple uses! I’ve used it a few times when I haven’t had any Vaseline for my lips and I’ve heard of a few mums using it on their cracked heels (I’m yet to try this trick).

Katie: I personally wouldn’t choose this over the lansinoh lanolin balm, I used it with my first baby and had some left and I found myself reaching for that over this one. It just seems to work better, I think this is a nice option to have but if I was to only buy one I’d have to go with the lanolin balm though I’m sure lots of people would prefer this one it’s just a preference.

What changes would you make to this product?

Alison: While I love the beautiful presentation of the Lansinoh organic nipple balm, the use of a jar does concern me for three reasons. Firstly, the jar is heavy to add to a change bag for on the go; secondly, you need two hands to open and close the jar and this is often difficult if you are holding your newborn baby before and after a feed. Lastly, I am very aware of maintaining optimum hygiene for my baby, and having to swirl a finger around the Lansinoh jar seemed less clean than taking balm from a squeezable flip top tube as used by other brands.

Katie: Personally I would change the packaging. I understand why it’s in a tub as it’s a hard product that melts upon contact with skin like coconut oil (which it’s largely based from) but I’m not sure how hygienic it is to be putting your fingers in the tub a lot especially when you’re putting it on such a delicate area that is sore plus then it’s going in your baby’s mouth. I’d also add in lanolin as I feel it’s a key ingredient to soothe!

Ruby: I like the economical packaging of this product being glass however for ease of use I would choose a pop lid rather than a screw lid or possibly a tube applicator, or have the option of both a travel tube you can pop in a bag and have the glass jar option for keeping at home assuming that these options are not already available.
