Testing the Dr Brown’s Anti-Colic Options+ Wide-Neck Baby Bottle

"The first and most important factor is that these bottles are anti colic and they help tremendously to stop your baby from not enjoying their meal because of discomfort," one parent told us. They were able to notice a great reduction from first use and praised how the bottles allowed their baby to no longer be upset but actually enjoy drinking their milk. "My baby now sleeps well and doesn't wake up in pain so happy baby and happy mum!" she exclaimed. The bottles are a cute woodland theme suitable for any gender, and they found that they are comfortable to hold. They described the bottles as "very easy to put together" but did point out that they "can be a bit tricky to clean, especially the inside - but that's not a big problem". They praised the very natural looking teat that resembles the breast, allowing the transition from breast to bottle to be easy and avoid stress. One other highlight was the fact that the two vent option made it a great way to save money, as the bottle can still be used once your baby isn't colicky anymore.

Another tester praised the design of the Anti-Colic Options+ Wide-Neck Baby Bottle, saying it "was cute & fun with a jungle theme". They enjoyed that the bottles' appearance was sleek & well made, pointing out that it looked like a high end product. "The bottle was easy for the baby to try to grasp & hold when using this. It kept the milk warm & the flow of the bottle suited my baby," they said. They reported that it also helped their little one's bouts of colic, especially at night time, and seemed to reduce his wind as the formula he was tested with is an allergy one, and they had colic issues with it prior to using this bottle.

Our testers found the versatility of these bottles great, as they offer both standard and anti colic feeding for babies. The bottle itself has a great shape making it easy for babies to hold as they get older. "I loved the pattern on the bottle which offered great interaction for my baby to look at the animals once the feed had finished" said another happy tester.

Another pleased parent told us that "the product makes my life easier as a mum by helping my baby take his bottle more often. He often refuses his bottle due to his teeth/wind etc, especially from other well known anti colic brands". She found that the bottle helped to reduce his irritability at night time by improving his trapped wind and ensuring he doesn’t wake as often, as he was willing to drink more from this than other bottles.

The Anti-Colic Options+ Wide-Neck Baby Bottle features a classic design, style and shape. A parent tester found that the fact that is has an anti colic vent systems and the flow is controlled by baby meant a happier more contented feed for their child. "The bottles went everywhere with us," they said, continuing to state that "We used them quite a few times - it took her a little while to get used to the teat at first, but she seemed to get the hang of it".

"I started using this bottle from 8 weeks onwards, as I was finding breastfeeding hard with my baby not latching properly," said one tester. "The transition was so easy as the teat is very close to a breast shape. My baby was able to latch on with ease and start feeding super quickly!"

Following the testing period, that same tester said "now my baby is older and no longer needs to use the vent as he no longer suffers from colic issues. It has saved me money as I didn't need to buy a new bottle. It's a 2 in 1 bottle, so a fab purchase for anyone". It has held up well months later doing its job perfectly. They found the bottle easy to assemble, use and clean, though at first the vent made cleaning the bottle difficult. Over time, they found it no different to cleaning any other item. In the end, they said that "baby is happy and able to hold the bottle himself by gripping it, so it works well for encouraging self feed too".

Final thoughts

Testers highlighted that these bottles are cleverly designed to suit your babies needs - not only do they have a anti colic system, but they also allow your baby to take in the milk at their own pace, avoiding excess milk coming out of baby's mouth or guzzling milk that is coming out quicker than they are drinking it. Overall, they're a reliable pick for your little one, and will definitely help to increase the convenience of your baby's feeding in the future.
