The Chicco Next2Me Dream Evo won Bronze for Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket in our 2023 Mother&Baby Awards.

Offering maximum practicality with a sliding barrier and four wheels to move it around, 65 per cent of the Chicco Next2Me Dream Evo's fabric is made of recycled polyester for a more sustainable choice of bedside crib. The crib can be adjusted in 11 height levels to fit different beds and the feet automatically retract when pushed against the bed's structure so the Dream Evo can be installed even to a bed with drawers.

Testing the Chicco Next2Me Dream Evo

Our parent testers found that this bedside crib was relatively simple to put together but didn't think that the instructions provided were very good, instead preferring to refer to the online instruction videos instead.

65 per cent of the Chicco Next2Me Dream Evo's fabric is made of recycled polyester, something that pleased our testers. "I do like the eco nature of the product and the fact that it contains some recycled materials as becoming a parent has made me increasingly conscious of the environmental impact of things and protecting the planet our children are going to grow up into," said one mum.

Being able to position the crib exactly how you want it no matter the height or size of your bed was big plus point and testers liked that it was easy to fold down and transport it for travelling purposes.

One of the main factors of a bedside crib, testers loved being able to see and reach their baby easily when they needed to.

"I loved that you can pop one side of the cot down so you can reach in and soothe your baby. I was even able to leave the side down permanently as even though it was down, it only goes down to a certain level so your baby is still safe and could not roll out or cause injury," said tester Samantha. "The cot is on wheels so easy to manoeuvre but you can also lock the brakes when stationary to keep the cot secure too. I didn’t want a bedside crib originally as I felt it would take up too much room in our small bedroom but actually, it fits well and goes with our decor. It’s modern but well-built and easy to use. I cannot fault the performance, usability or build."

"I think this product has been well thought out with mums in mind. All the functions are really handy and useful. While some other brands that are cheaper seem a lot more flimsy and not as secure as this one. I feel safe putting my little one in this crib knowing full well he is safe whilst we are all sleeping. I believe that Chicco has hit the nail on the head with this design, I feel the price tag is affordable and the quality matches the price. I would 100 per cent recommend this product to other mums and I wish I had gone straight for a next2me crib to begin with than wasting my money on a Moses basket."

Final thoughts

Testers commented that they'd like to see more colour options of the Dream Evo while one mum would love to see the addition of a white noise machine to help the product really stand out from competitors.

Although our mums struggled with the instructions and would prefer a QR code to link to a video to set the crib up, overall our testers had a positive experience with the Chicco Next2Me Dream Evo.

"I love it and I will be recommending everyone to buy the product and when my baby is too big for it I think I will cry!" Abbie told us. "This product has made my life so much easier and can’t believe I actually considered not getting one! It is such a sturdy product and well worth the money, from pictures it didn’t look as well made but it really is."
