What they say:

“Rear-facing car seats like the SIRONA Plus have been shown to reduce the risk of injuries by more than 80% when compared to conventional forward-facing seat with harness system. Unlike other rear-facing rotational car seats, it uses an impact shield rather than a harness in forward-facing mode, reducing the risk of injuries as the force of an impact is distributed evenly over a large area. The ingenious 360° rotation system means it's easy to get a child in and out of the seat and the adjustable Linear Side-impact Protection system (L.S.P.) increases the level of safety in a side-impact collision.”

The CYBEX SIRONA Plus is a fantastic car seat! It is well-designed, robust, adjustable and comes with a swivel feature that makes installation a breeze. The fabric is good quality – soft, stylish and durable, and the chair is comfortable. It is, however, ISOFIX-only, which is great – unless you don’t have an ISOFIX attachment system. It is also quite heavy and would be taxing to move in and out of a car on a regular basis but its weight does add to the seat’s safety factor, giving it a good, solid feel. Instead of a five-point harness, the chair uses a safety cushion to protect little ones, so no need for straps – whether this could incite bad habits for seat-belt wearing later on could be a potential concern with this safety system.

How did this product make your life easier?

The seat’s primary feature is its swivel mechanism, which is great – just remember that the seat must be locked in an upright position before any sort of swivelling can take place. The front bolster is a good safety idea but there are children who won't like it, and are likely to argue the point when you try to put them in the seat.

The CYBEX SIRONA Plus is a great car seat with loads of features. It lasts from birth until 4 years and has both forward and extended rear-facing functionality. The seat cover can be removed for washing and with the ISOFIX, the seat is easy to install but it is heavy, which can complicate the fitting process somewhat. It’s also not easily transferable.

What changes would you make to this product?

The swivel mechanism sometimes get stuck and also impossible to put back in the upright position with a sleeping baby in order to use the swivel and get the baby out which sometimes causes an issue as I like to be able to get the sleeping baby out to transfer her to the buggy. The seat has to be put in an upright position to swivel.

Not the most important feature but this car seat really does look fabulous!! It has beautiful soft curves and an almost egg like shape....it looks different from the traditional Maxi Cosi and that is because it is different. This isn't travel system compatible so it stays in the car all the time. I love the way the car seat swivels all the way round, it makes it very easy to place your child in and out of the car seat especially in my car which is quite high. It's very easy to fit, the ISOFIX is easy to use and I really like the way you can have it rear facing up to four years of age.

How did this product make your life easier?

Very easy to put my child in and out of this car seat which means my son isn't fighting me and I am not having to force him to sit down whilst I buckle him in! It is surprisingly easy to switch the seat from rear facing to forward facing too so I can quite easily interchange it for my different children.

For me, this feels like the safest car seat I have ever used. The fact that you can have it rear facing up to four years of age is fabulous and when forward facing, the restraining cushion protects the child much more than a five pint harness would. Having said that, I feel the cushion will get very dirty quickly as my children always eat in the car.

What changes would you make to this product?

The five system harness is very easy to use but my son was able to squeeze his arms out from the shoulder straps so his upper body wasn't restrained. I wasn't able to tighten the straps any tighter to prevent him from doing this!! He isn't a small child so can't believe that other people haven't encountered this problem.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes I would recommend as the CYBEX SIRONA Plus is a multi use car seat which can be used from birth to 4 years. Although the car seat packs some initial weight, my car is near my house so this is not a major problem. It'd quite expensive so it's the type of seag that will be staying put once installed I think

How did this product make your life easier?

Easier because of the four-year usability. The rotating seat is very useful, comfortable and practice and looks good in any car. It works with the ISOFIX system meaning it is really easy to fit inside a car and provides much better stability.

What changes would you make to this product?

I like the seat a lot but unfortunately it is just too expensive for my budget.

I would recommend this car seat as it is perfect. One car seat to see you through from birth to age four, very comfortable, great design, has a very good recline angle for naps. I love the padded, comfy seat and magnetic holders that keep the straps out of the way, and the fact that you only have one button to press to rotate this seat – which makes it really quick and easy to use.

How did this product make your life easier?

It's just perfect as its from birth so I can use it for years without changing my seat. Once the seat is in it’s just so easy to use put my child in and strap him in and we are off.

Would you choose this product to win?

This is a really comfortable and attractive seat. It was quite tricky to install, but car seats are about safety, not convenience, so I think the additional safety features on this one make it well worth the hassle of a slightly fiddly installation. Riley seemed comfortable in this seat.

What changes would you make to this product?

Not enough leg space to be used rear facing up to age four. It is impossible for a child to be comfy when there legs are bent up high and my son did not like this at all. They can't sleep like this if they are tall. My child was not happy facing this way, but he was much happier facing front.
