Splash About Snippets

The Splash About Snippets won Silver for Best Eco Friendly Product in the Mother&Baby Awards 2025. Our parents found it to be engaging, well-priced and eco-friendly, particularly pleased with the colourful materials and textures. This year, six real families tested and reviewed the bath toys for us - read below how they got on!

"I really liked this product a lot! The starfish floated well on top of the water and was easy to identify within the water due to its bright design on one side," said one pleased parent. There are a number of different designs included in the range, with the aforementioned starfish being a big hit with our testers. "It did the job of engaging my three-year-old when we played ‘save the starfish’, encouraging him to swim to it," praised one mum.

The size of the toys was also a high point, described by one mum as "generous in size and good for my child to grab". They're quite large, which gives kids plenty to hold onto and encourages them to retrieve them on their own. Both the starfish and sardine designs have a good shape that fits well into little hands, and they look great too!

"We were lucky enough to receive two different types of these products - one was weighted and the other wasn't," said a happy mum. "Both were fantastic and allowed for different play formats in the water". This versatility is great for keeping little ones engaged, as are the bright colours used for the materials. One tester described the set as "well made, aesthetically pleasing and upholds the eco friendly message."

Speaking of the green appeal, our testers were happy that Splash About lived up to their eco-friendly reputation. "I really love the idea that there is no waste product going into landfill and instead many more children get to enjoy more Splash About products for many many years," one tester told us. The Snippets are made from offcuts of neoprene from Splash About's swimwear range, which means, as one mum put it, "less waste going to landfill and a way to recycle the offcuts into something useful and fun for children to play with". This is definitely good for eco-conscious parents that want their child's toys to be kind to the planet!

There were some constructive changes our testers suggested - one told us that "it would be nice to see the product packaged in a more environmentally friendly way. Perhaps a paper packaging or maybe even home compostable or corn starch based packaging". Luckily, Splash About have already stated that they intend to send products 'naked' with no packaging or use recycled packaging in the near future, so they'll only become more and more eco-friendly as time goes on.

Final verdict

Overall, the Snippets were a solid pick for any bath time. "They dry fairly quickly for a bath toy, are lightweight, and compact well when dry for if you do transport out of the house," said one mum. They're a great way to get kids engaged whilst in the bath, and the eco-friendly construction is a lovely bonus for planet-conscious parents.
