Boots Baby Shampoo Eye Shield

At a glance:

A unique and innovative invention, this clever little cap stops shampoo getting in your baby’s eyes. Our panel of mum testers thought this not only looked adorable, but worked well without leaving marks on their baby’s face. One suggestion was that the cap could be adjustable to fit different size heads or ages, but all in all, this is a genius product!

What they say:

"Boots Baby Shampoo Eye Shield, protects your child’s eyes from water and shampoo when washing hair. Made from soft, waterproof, neoprene rubber, the shampoo eye shield will fir all children’s head sizes."

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product, it is simple to use, with cute little pictures on it which my baby likes to look at and I'm sure when she is older it will serve as a learning tool. It really does keep my baby happy when I wash her hair, I don't have to worry about soap or water getting into her eyes.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product is a great design idea, stopping water running into my baby's eyes making bath time a pleasant experience for all of us. It's really easy to put on and doesn't cause any distress. The only thing is that my baby is 5 months old and it is slightly baggy on her head, especially when the product is soaked it becomes heavier and seems to flop.

Would you choose this product to win?

I certainly think this product is a winner and I would definitely consider this product over others on the market. I have been comparing it to a jug with a soft lip and this shield is definitely better, despite it being slightly too big for my baby's head. It is durable, easy to clean and to store, which are features I look out for in baby products!

What changes would you make to this product?

I would like to see different colours and design ideas to create a more eye-catching product on the shelves. It is slightly too big for my five-month-old, especially when wet and it seems to sag, so maybe the peak at the front needs to be smaller or the material more stretchy to suit smaller babies.

The high quality design and material provides a safe and soft product that makes bath time easier. Whilst my little girl wasn't 100% happy wearing it, she would allow it to be used for a short term and it made washing her hair easier. It is also extremely reasonably priced in a market saturated with expensive baby products.

How did this product make your life easier?

Given that my little girl wiggles around so much in the bath, ensuring that shampoo does not get in her eyes is important. This product allowed me to rinse her hair without any shampoo or water getting into her eyes. The neoprene is soft and does not leave a mark on her face and it dries quickly meaning it is ready for every bath time.

Would you choose this product to win?

Due to the price and neoprene fabric I would choose to purchase this. The neutral colour means that I could use it for any future babies and the good quality design makes me think that it will last for a while. It also does not have any fastenings so easily slips over her head – due to my daughter being very wriggly at bath time, this is very much a required feature.

What changes would you make to this product?

If it was possible to do it in a transparent material then this would be desirable as my daughter did not like the fact that she could not see around the room.  However, I don't feel that this is possible with the neoprene fabric and I feel that maintaining such high quality fabric is more important than the fabric being transparent.

I like the patterns on it, it's lovely and colourful and very eye catching.  It's easy to store, and looks very comfortable to wear. It's a good size so would fit from baby up to pre-school, I would say. It's simple to use, very easy to clean and easy to transport on holiday as it's so small.

How did this product make your life easier?

It was quite easy to use on my seven-month-old but not so much on my two-year-old. It made life slightly easier as I didn't have to worry about shampoo getting in my baby boy’s eyes and it made the whole bath-time experience slightly better and I could wash my son’s hair with ease. It was easy to put on too!

Would you choose this product to win?

I'm not sure if I saw it in a shop, I would personally buy it myself. When I received it, it wasn't what I expected. It looks slightly cheap, and like it won't protect my baby’s eyes much, but I was pleasantly surprised! I love the designs on the item, and it looks very colourful and attractive.

What changes would you make to this product?

I think making the size adjustable would be a good idea; although it kept the majority of shampoo and water out of my son’s eyes, some water still got through and as my eldest is two, it was slightly snug on his head. Various different designs would be a good idea too.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product as it is so easy to apply to my baby’s head and it wasn’t too tight. It looks really comfortable for him too which is a bonus and the design makes it look really good too.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes life easier as a mum because when bathing little one, you don't have to worry about the soap and water going into your baby’s face. It puts ease on me as I can fully rely on the product without worry. My little one has a very happy time in the bath without soap and water getting onto his face.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this for bath time because it's so easy and reliable for little children. The thing that stands out in this product is the colour and design of it – it is nice and bright. I've never seen anything like this in the shops, so discovering it has made me a very happy mum.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about the product it would be to make it more stretchy and flexible, as it does seem a bit tight to pull across baby’s head. My boy is very young so I don't think it would suit older children as it would be far too tight on their head.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

If I could give this product 11/10 it still wouldn't be high enough, my eldest is petrified of getting water on her face, so she used to dread bath times knowing she was probably going to get water in her face no matter how hard we tried not to, this amazing invention saved us! She now loves baths and asks for it to be put on, it stays in place even under a powerful shower and no water gets on her face!

How did this product make your life easier?

It makes my life so much easier as a mum because I know my eldest will now enjoy her bath times, and it's so much less stressful for the pair of us as we do not need to worry about water getting into her eyes or her face, it meant we could actually enjoy a bath together, without the tears and tantrums we had become accustomed to.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this over and over again! I wish I knew about these years ago, incredible invention and something that is now very much loved in our house, and is used at every bath time, they're also really great value for money and very affordable. They have a lovely design too and bright colours, my daughter really enjoys using them!

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think there is anything I would change, if I had to really pick perhaps make them so they don't start to lose how tight they are after several uses, but that is after alot of uses! It's used at every bath or shower without fail and when we've stayed overnight anywhere it's come with us to use also!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product because I think it's soft and sensitive even for newborn bab's skin. It has a lovely soothing scent and makes the bath nice and bubbly. I found it helped to calm and settle my baby just before her bed time. It's a lovely product to use as part of your babies bed time routine and helps settle them for a good nights sleep. My toddler also loved the fact it was super bubbly and we had lots of fun with all the bubbles. I have used bubble baths that don't produce very much bubble but this product is great. The big bottle lasts quite long and is easy to use. Overall a fantastic quality product.

How did this product make your life easier?

I wouldn't say this product makes my life any easier although it is a product that my toddler enjoys having in her bath and she always needs to have bubbles! I also think it helps to soothe and settle my baby before bed time which helps me get her down quicker and gives me a bit of time to do other things.

What changes would you make to this product?

There is honestly nothing I would change about this product. I think it's good quality, great value and a gentle, sensitive product which is perfect for both babies and older children alike. The bottle design is nice however maybe not eye catching enough compared to other bath products. This product has everything I would want from a bedtime baby bath product. Overall I'm happy and like the product.
