Here's how Georgi, mum to one-year-old April, got on while testing out "The Babbler" Lovevery Play Kit.

“The Babbler” play kit is designed for older babies (13-15 months) and aims to further their physical and mental development. The play kit features a range of beautifully designed, ergonomic toys which promote curiosity and learning through play.

Testing the Lovevery "The Babbler" Play Kit

“The Babbler” Lovevery Play Kit contains eight different early learning toys along with a board book and handy user guide. Each toy is designed to introduce your baby to fundamental concepts such as cause and effect, object permanence and spatial awareness. The toys are visually appealing and are crafted with sustainable, natural materials.

By using the Lovevery Play Kit, I wanted to spend quality time with my baby and engage in purposeful play using The Babbler play kit. I wanted her to feel engaged, happy and entertained whilst picking up some new skills along the way.

We sat down to play with the toys over the course of a few days after my baby’s morning nap, which is when she is usually most content and alert. I made sure any other toys were tidied away and kept the space clear so her focus would be on the play kit. We spent about 30-40 minutes on the play kit each day, over the course of the test. My baby is 10 months old which is a little younger than the age group the product is aimed at, but I felt it was still appropriate for her current mobility and attention span.

I felt the play kit was wonderfully designed and enjoyable for both me and my baby. The play guide offered ideas on how to play with the toys and what skills my baby would be learning along the way, which was valuable to me as a first-time parent.

I was very pleased with the ergonomics of the toys and how comfortable I felt letting my baby explore them without too much intervention from me. She was teething at the time we tried the play kit and the design and materials of the toys were suitable for her to occasionally chew on. There were no choking hazards, so when they went in her mouth I didn’t feel much need to intervene.

The quality of the toys was exceptional, very tactile and durable. My baby was able to easily grasp and hold the toys and I felt safe letting her explore them without the risk of splinters/sharp edges/small parts.

From a parent’s perspective, it always feels difficult to find toys which are visually appealing to both adults and babies but these ticked the box perfectly. They were colourful enough to excite my baby but still looked lovely in our home. Their quality is second to none.

Final verdict

"The Babbler” Lovevery play kit lives up to the brand’s reputation and delivers on its promises. From the moment you open the box with its inviting design and branding you know you are looking at a luxury product, and the entire process from unpacking to playing with the actual toys was a delight.

The toy selection is beautifully curated to encourage curiosity and learning in older babies and its design is inviting for both babies and adults alike. I felt more inclined to sit with my baby to explore these particular toys, allowing us to spend some quality time together. I personally found the play guide very useful as a first-time parent, as I do sometimes feel a little lost about what I should be doing with my baby during playtime.

In a world where I worry about the environmental impact of what I buy for my baby, it was also lovely to have something with good credentials in sustainability. On a slightly more fickle but no less important note, it was also a huge relief to have such visually appealing toys on display in my home rather than the typical bright, lurid plastic items which are the eyesores of parents across the country.

I honestly can’t think of any changes I’d make to this product other than perhaps a little box or bag to store the individual items in when not in use.
