The Nuna Cudl Clik baby carrier is suitable for carrying babies up to the weight of 16kg. It can be used in four ways depending on the weight and age of the baby (facing in with infant carrier, facing in, facing out, back carry), allowing the parents to adapt the way they use it as their child grows. The product includes the baby carrier itself, a drawstring bag and some additional items such as the bib and a removable pouch for storing items such as your phone and keys.

Testing the Nuna Cudl Clik
I am a 29-year-old first-time mum to a baby who is 5 and a half months old. I enjoy getting out of the house and staying busy with my baby. My partner also helped test out the carrier when we went out together.
A baby carrier is often used by us, as we enjoy going for walks, and our baby likes looking around and seeing what is going on around him. We tested the carrier for about a month before writing this review, wearing it on walks to parks, woodlands, and forests. This also meant we put our baby in it at home before leaving the house, as well as at the location we had driven to.

There are a number of alternative baby carriers on the market from brands such as BabyBjorn, Ergobaby and Joie, which all range in functionality and cost. I have previously used an Ergobaby 360 baby carrier, which allows you to carry your baby in four positions and is incredibly comfortable on your shoulders. Based on this, my expectations for the Nuna Cudl Clik were for it to have a number of carry positions and to be comfortable on my shoulders and back.
Build
Initially, I was impressed with the packaging of the product. It comes in a cardboard box with a handle, and I liked the colour scheme of navy blues and whites. The carrier comes in a navy drawstring bag, which I also thought looked very smart. The instructions were reasonably clear, with some written instructions and some images. It may have been slightly clearer if the two had been merged rather than being on separate pages. The images were pretty clear to follow, but could be improved by using different colours to help identify the various parts, especially when you are a busy mum with a baby.
It took me a little while to understand what the additional items in the box were for (the pouch, bib, etc.), but once I read the manual correctly, I understood, and they were easy to assemble. The quality of the product felt good; it felt durable and smart. It is more expensive than the carriers that I would typically buy, but my initial thoughts were that it is worth the money due to being really easy to clip the baby in place and suitable for children up to 16kg.

The carrier was easy to set up, as it was already built and you just needed to clip on the additional items (such as the bag and bib). The only issue I had was that it was built for a newborn baby, meaning I needed to remove the infant booster and unclip a button to allow more space for my five and a half month old. I didn’t notice this at first from reading the manual, but after looking at the website, I noticed there were some really useful videos that explained it well to me. When I have little time and concentration to read a manual, I find visual aids such as videos and images helpful.
It is easy to get on yourself without someone needing to help you - you can clip the yoke in easily and get everything in place before the baby is there. When placing my baby in the carrier, the magnetic buckles made it really easy to do this without any help from anyone else, and you can just pull the straps to ensure the carrier fits your body correctly. The carrier is the same size as the Ergobaby carrier I have used previously (so it doesn’t feel excessively big). It also comes with a helpful drawstring bag which was useful when packing it into the car and means it doesn’t take up too much space.

Performance
One of the main features of the product was the magnetic buckles, which I hadn’t seen before in a baby carrier. I found this really useful in securing my baby easily without having to fiddle with clips, which may require two hands to put them in place. This made me less nervous about securing my baby in the carrier when out and about on my own, as I wasn’t worried about being unable to hold my baby and secure the carrier properly.
Another feature is that you can carry a baby in four positions as they get older, which is really important to me as I wouldn’t want to have to buy a new carrier as my baby gets older. There are also many carriers unsuitable for newborns, so this is a great feature. Another great feature is the hood and the breeze cover, which means you can continue to use the carrier in different types of weather and don’t need to worry about your baby getting too hot/sunburnt or too cold. It is also helpful that these parts can be tucked away when not used. Previous carriers I have used haven’t included a windshield or an additional small pouch/bag to keep small items in.

The carrier worked well to be used both as ‘facing in’ and ‘facing out’, with very small adjustments needing to be made to switch between the two. I initially didn't realise the infant booster was in place, so I put my baby in the carrier with this already there, meaning he was much too high up (however, this seemed to work really well if he was a newborn).
We trialled the breeze cover even though the weather conditions didn’t require this, and it was easy to get out and put away. The pouch bag, which attaches to the carrier, was really easy to attach and a good size for my phone, keys and poo bags for the dog. The manual and website seem to accurately advertise the benefits of the carrier, and there wasn’t anything additional that I noticed that I wasn’t aware of from reading about it beforehand.
Usability
I really liked the design in the way of including magnetic buckles; these feel like they were of good quality. It isn’t the smallest baby carrier I have seen, but it also can be used for babies up to 16kg, so it does need to be substantial. The addition of the drawstring bag makes it feel much smaller when packing it in the car for a trip out.
I initially found it a little tricky to get the carrier set up and ready for my baby as the newborn booster was automatically attached and I wasn’t aware of this. It is detailed in the manual, but only under the ‘Infant booster’ section, which I didn’t read as I didn’t think it was relevant to my baby. The images did help, and the website is really useful and clear, with videos about setting up. Once I had noticed this, getting my baby in the carrier was very easy.

The product is more expensive than carriers I would usually buy, but it did meet my expectations, particularly as it can be used four ways for babies up to 16kg, has some additional extras (pouch, breeze cover, hood etc), and has magnetic buckles. It wasn’t possible to test all aspects of the carrier properly within my month of testing as the current weather meant I didn’t ever need to use the windshield. Likewise, I could test the carrier with my baby ‘facing in’ and ‘facing out’, but couldn’t test the ‘infant booster’ or ‘back carry’ as he is the wrong weight and age.
It was easy to store the carrier in the drawstring bag and hang on a coat rack when not using. I haven’t yet cleaned the carrier, and it does suggest cleaning in a mesh bag which I would need to buy myself which is a bit disappointing and could have been included with the product. However, the bib is removable and can be washed whenever needed. The carrier meets its purpose well in being easy to get a baby into without needing help or with the buckles being fiddly.

Final verdict
The Nuna Cudl Clik is great for parents who like to go out and about often without needing to use a buggy. It is also ideal for people with dogs and those who want to go places where a buggy cannot be used (woodlands, long walks, etc.).
The best parts of the product for me were that it has magnetic buckles, can be used for babies up to 16kg and has an additional pouch that can be attached. The downfalls were that it was not clear to me that the infant booster was already in place when I opened the packaging, and the manual used a numbered system for both the images and the parts list, but these did not align. I also think at this price, they should include a mesh bag for washing the carrier if they are saying this is required.

My partner also found it very comfortable on his shoulders and back. We also noted how easy it is to adjust the size and fit of the carrier when switching between the two of us. He noted that the buckles made getting our baby in place easy without my help.
Although it is more expensive than carriers I have used before, it is the only one you would need to purchase as it is suitable for newborns (3.5kg) and can be used for older babies up to 16kg. It also feels of good quality and is well worth the extra money.
