Mums were full of praise for the ease of using the Gaia Baby Soft Newborn+ Baby Carrier - one parent told us that "Being first-time parents, we were apprehensive and lacked confidence in using a baby sling correctly. The Gaia sling comes with step-by-step instructions that were easy to follow and helped put our minds at ease when trying the carrier for the first time". Another found this carrier much easier than competing products, telling us that "the instructions on the box were also very straightforward. I found other carriers were very complicated, especially as a first-time mum."

Parents were also really pleased with the design of the carrier. One told us that "the quilted design looks beautiful. It is a completely neutral design, which means it is suitable for most parents and can also be used for multiple children". One tester also appreciated the way it could be worn, telling us that when compared to others, the carrier was "easy to put on and I can do it on my own, whereas in the past I have found that I always needed someone else's help."

"The carrier is also machine washable, which is perfect for parents with babies prone to sickness or chewing," said one mum commenting on the washability. There's still room for improvement though - one tester told us that "I have found that my daughter regularly chews on the front of the carrier and shoulder straps meaning that I have to wash the whole carrier frequently and leaving me without it while it dries," although she did also highlight that "the lightweight material does however allow it to dry very quickly compared to other carriers."

This low weight is another standout feature, with a pleased parent telling us that "I found it much lighter than other carriers, which is handy to pack away on holidays." At the same time, another said that "although it's lightweight, it in no way feels cheap or that there has been any compromise on safety and comfort". Another mum agreed with the ease of using the carrier when travelling - she told us that "We used this on holiday where it gave us freedom to explore the beach without the faff of a pram, and it allowed us to visit tourist attractions which weren't pram friendly". This versatility is a real blessing for busy mums who want to bring baby along.

"I regularly use it around the house as it is so easy to put on by myself and is not bulky at all, so I can manoeuvre easily and keep my daughter entertained while I do chores," said a parent who loved the carrier. Being able to stay active without sacrificing time with your little one was really appealing to our testers.

According to our testers, both you and your baby will be safe and comfortable when using the carrier. "We found it comfortable to wear and baby seemed to be happy in the sling too," said a happy mum, continuing to say that "she absolutely loved being forward facing so she could see more of the world". Another told us that "my baby is just under 2 weeks old and he is so settled and comfortable in this carrier. It is ultra soft on his little face, and even the straps are soft, which makes wearing it comfortable, too."

Final verdict

Overall, it's clear that the Gaia Baby Soft Newborn+ Baby Carrier was a hit with our testers, with mums telling us "the quality is excellent and it feels like my daughter is very secure," and saying that "what we found most useful was how well it balanced functionality with quality". With soft fabrics, a supportive build and an easy-to-wear design, it's no wonder they loved it! If you're on the lookout for a new carrier, this might just be the one for you.
