Snuza HeroMD baby monitor is a wearable device which attaches to your baby's nappy and monitors their breathing. The HeroMD detects the slightest of breaths and will alert you if breathing is weak or less than eight breaths per minute. If the Snuza HeroMD detects no breathing for 15 seconds it will vibrate in an effort to rouse your baby to resume breathing.
Would you recommend this to other mums?
Nicola: The Snuza Hero is easy to use and peace of mind is invaluable for nervous parents. The flashing light to show the product is working/or alarm has been raised, can be seen in the dark through two layers of clothing and a blanket. This may disturb or bother some babies or parents who are sensitive to such things affecting their sleep, but for us, it wasn’t an issue.
Samantha: I would say this product fills a niche in the market and would recommend this to mums as it fits easily into any handbag and comes in a handy plastic carry case, the instructions are simple to understand, the product set up is quick and only takes a couple of seconds.
Charlotte: I would recommend this product to mothers who worry a lot about their child not breathing. I would have found this helpful with my first child. However, with my second I am more confident and don’t worry as much. The product is small, doesn’t get in the way and is easy to set up.
How did this product make your life easier?
Shelley: It gives me peace of mind that baby is OK at a vulnerable time when there is so much to worry about as a new mum. I used to wake up regularly in the night just to check my little one was still breathing. The Snuza Hero gives me a better quality of sleep as I do not have to check so often. If I do wake up looking for reassurance, the green light feature, which flashes every time he breathes is a great indication that everything is OK.
Nicole: This is a perfect device for young or premature babies who maybe have had breathing problems. It gives great peace of mind to parents and allows them to sleep easier knowing they will be alerted if something is wrong. It's nice that its just clips on the nappy without wires. It is simple to use once you figure it out.
Charlotte: I believe this product could put a lot of mums minds at rest, SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) is a real worry for a lot of mothers and this product would help to relieve these worries. The alarm on the product is very loud so should the baby stop breathing it would be able to rouse the mother from sleep.
Would you choose this product to win?
Samantha: I would choose this product to win on innovative design as it is much smaller than the current sensor mats on the market and is battery operated so is extremely portable for days out, overnight stays and trips abroad. The product is durable and looks like it will last the required lifetime for your baby.
Elizabeth: I would definitely choose this product due to its portability. It has a small, lightweight design meaning it fits snuggly onto baby’s nappy and doesn’t seem to bother them. The soft tip means that it is comfortable to wear. The flashing green light gives peace of mind in the dark.
Charlotte: I believe this product is better than others on the market. I have seen other breathing monitors, however, a lot of them are not attached to the baby so you cannot take them out and about. The Snuza is extremely sensitive and really does pick up on every breath.
What changes would you make to this product?
Shelley: To make this product truly versatile and to better compete with similar products within this category, I feel that an app addition is required. The App could send an alert from the monitor to your mobile phone when the baby has stopped breathing or regular breathing is interrupted, as well as providing stats on your baby’s breathing and temperature. In addition, it would be better if the monitor was less bulky and easier to attach.
Hayley: Ease of changing the battery as it is quite fiddly. I am also worried about breaking off the clip that attaches to the nappy when I change the battery.
Jody: If I could improve this product I would make it smaller. I feel it is too big, especially on a newborn or premature baby. I would also change the appearance as it looks very serious and similar to a piece of medical equipment. It would perhaps be more appealing and less scary if the monitors appearance was ‘softened'.
