My husband and I were looking to go a little further afield than our usual UK holiday, so we decided that France would be a great choice.

Offering good weather, exceptional food, and reasonably easy travel, how could we not!

With having 3 young children, we decided that our best option was to go via Brittany Ferries.

We settled on the route of Portsmouth to St Malo, crossing overnight with a cabin so the children could get some much-needed rest for the start of our holiday.

I was excited to see the children’s reaction to the ferry, and I am pleased to say that it did not disappoint!

Their look of excitement when they finally saw the ferry and the realisation of the adventure that awaited them was priceless.

The facilities and entertainment onboard the ship were faultless. There was everything from magicians to cinemas, even a soft play area for the little ones. Enough to keep you all entertained for hours.

The cabin was lovely and quiet and had a small bathroom with shower, comfortable beds and everything was spotlessly clean.

In the morning we all had a lovely breakfast on board that was very reasonably priced, with a huge selection to choose from.

Once we arrived in St Malo, a very easy journey awaited us to Le Ranolien holiday parc. The drive only took us just over an hour, so we knew we had made the right choice regarding travel!

Le Ranolien holiday parc is based in Perros Guirec, which is a beautiful area of Brittany, North-Western France.

The coastline is famous for its pink granite, which is absolutely stunning and makes for a lovely setting for your holiday.

The beautiful beach named Trestraou, is only a 10-minute drive away, with free parking.

We also walked to this beach from the holiday parc along the coastline, which took us around 30 minutes, and it was simply glorious.

There is a big supermarket a very short drive away, which has everything you would possibly need.

We chose to take a lot of our food with us, as dining in France can be costly, and we wanted to save our euros for all the adventures that were to be had!

Accommodation

The mobile home was well equipped with everything you would expect to find on your holiday. There was a lovely decked area with sunbeds, a table, and chairs, which is where we spent every evening dining in the sun.

Bed linen can be hired as an extra, or you are free to take your own. If space is an issue when you travel then opting to hire it saves on space and organization, but you still need to make your beds upon arrival.

As standard Eurocamp doesn’t have televisions within their mobile homes, which at first I was surprised by, but actually this encouraged my children to play together and sit and talk about all the fun we were having on our holiday.

Holiday Parc

My children were delighted with all that Le Ranolien has to offer. The various outdoor swimming pools boast water slides for all ages, lovely warm water, and enough sunbeds that everyone is accommodated for.

The indoor swimming pool is fantastic fun for toddlers with a splash area and a shallow pool for them to enjoy, whilst there is a slightly deeper pool that will keep your older children entertained for hours.

The play area is magnificent too. Plenty of slides and climbing areas, whilst being located right next to the Crepe restaurant makes this fun for all. Your children can play safely whilst you watch them from the sunny seating area.

For those parents who like to make use of a laundrette to freshen up towels and swimwear, there are enough washing machines and tumble dryers to satisfy several large families!

With my three-year-old resisting the potty like he is allergic, I made good use of this facility!

The cinema room is free to use, you just need to book in advance. We took the children to this one afternoon towards the end of our holiday, which was great as it gave a change of pace.

Also, if the weather is to be slightly cooler this is an activity that won't be affected. Eurocamp staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

Always around to answer any questions you may have about the local area, or even if it is just for the lend of some bucket and spades! Nothing is too small an ask.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Eurocamp, at Le Ranolien.

My children loved every minute of their adventure, from the ferry trip to the walk along the pink granite coastline, there was fun at every turn.

For anyone thinking of this for their future holiday, my advise is just do it!

The children will come back with the biggest smile on their little faces, with fantastic stories about their wonderful holiday in France.
