How much do you know about Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his children? We take a look at South African entrepreneur Elon’s family…

Elon Musk and Justine Wilson

Elon has been married twice to date. He married Justine Wilson in 2000, and the couple went on to have six children together.

Sadly in 2002, their first son, Nevada Alexander, died at 10 weeks old from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Elon and Justine had five other sons: twins Griffin and Xavier who were born in 2004 and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian, born in 2006.

Elon filed from divorced in 2008. Justine told Marie Claire: “I didn't want to be a sideline player in the multimillion-dollar spectacle of my husband's life. I wanted equality. I wanted partnership. I wanted to love and be loved, the way we had before he made all his millions.”

Elon Musk and Talulah Riley

Elon married actress Talulah Riley in 2010. While the couple ended up splitting in 2012, they actually got married again in 2013. Unfortunately, the relationship ended in divorce in 2016.

Elon Musk and Grimes

Elon Musk and musician Grimes (who was born Claire Boucher) started dating in 2018. In fact, Grimes announced that she had changed her name to “c,” which is the symbol for the speed of light. This is believed to have been encouraged by Elon.

Grimes went on to give birth to a baby boy on May 4, 2020, Elon’s seventh son. Musk announced that they had named their son "X Æ A-12 Musk." Grimes went on to explain the unusual name, writing on Twitter:

  • X, the unknown variable ⚔️

  • Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)

  • A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defences, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent 🤍
    (A=Archangel, my favorite song)
    (⚔️🐁 metal rat)

However, it was then reported that the State of California would not accept a name with a number. The couple then announced that they were changing their son's name to "X Æ A-Xii."

Going into further detail of how to pronounce the baby's name, Elon told Joe Rogan on his podcast: "I mean it's just X, the letter X, and the 'Æ' is pronounced, 'Ash'."
