Susan grew up in Dublin, Ireland, and studied general nursing in university, followed by a postgraduate study in midwifery. In her years as a midwife in hospitals and communities, Sue discovered a strong passion for antenatal education for parents, so gradually specialized herself in the area, particularly the changes in parental education and specifically the digitalizing of antenatal education. She now holds the position full-time as Clinical Midwife Manager, where she creates the course contents and delivers the information to women and their partners
attending the hospital.

Sue first met her co-founders Tom and Brian McGovern in 2019. The brothers had reached out to her seeking healthcare advice for their planned new business, The Baby Academy. After initial meetings, Sue realized that their objectives aligned with her work in the area of digitizing the antenatal experience, and expressed interest in expanding her involvement to that of Director and co-founder, as opposed to a clinical advisor. Tom and Brian recognised her passion for increasing accessibility to parental education, so in late 2019, Sue came on board
as co-founder of The Baby Academy. Sue’s main mission in all of the work she does is “supporting new families, helping them to feel confident and in control during their pregnancy, their birth and as they grow as a family unit.”
