Planning the perfect baby shower can be a little daunting, there's a lot to think about, from sending out the baby shower invitations to thinking up fun games that everyone will want to play, deciding on the perfect baby shower gift, a theme and decorations, finding a baby shower cake plus a nappy cake, what to do for food and drink – the list can seem endless.

The best baby shower games to play
1 of 111. Who knows Mummy best?
This game is all about the mum-to-be! As baby showers tend to focus around on the little one, it’s nice to turn the attention to mum for a while. You will need: Pen and paper.
How to play: If you’re planning the shower for a friend, find out all you can about her and write a series of questions all about her – you can be as outlandish as you like. Then play the game to see who knows her best. You can do this individually or in teams depending how many people are at the shower, and the aim of the game is for everyone (or team) to write down what they think the answers are to each question. Whoever gets the most correct, wins!
2 of 112. The baby predictions
And oldie but a classic baby shower game! Guests are challeneged to predict everything they can about the new arrival, from the sex (if you don't already know it) to the weight. You definitely won’t know who the winner is on the day, but it will be a cute keepsake to look back on when baby arrives.
You will need: Buy or make a pack of baby prediction cards - we love these from Amazon!
How to play:
Give everyone a card to guess what they think the baby’s name, date of birth, time of birth, hair colour, eye colour and weight plus anything else you can predict about the baby.
3 of 113. Are you that baby?
Were you an adorable baby? This is the time to show off your own baby photos!
You will need: A baby photo of all your guests!
A board to pin all the photos too, or you can print out the photos on a handout for each guest.
You might also want to provide answer sheets for your guests with the number of the photo and a gap to write their guess of whose baby face is who.
How to play: Everyone writes down who they think everyone is and then you all have a great laugh when you see the results! Whoever gets the most correct wins. A great fun game for any baby shower.
4 of 114. My waters broke!
This game involves some prep before the shower, but trust us, it’s worth it.
You will need: Some mini plastic baby dolls (one for each guest) and an ice tray
How to play: Put one baby into each ice cube slot, then fill with water and freeze. When guests arrive, give everyone a frozen block of ice with the baby inside. Guests have to try to melt the ice in order to get their plastic baby out and – break their waters! They can do this in any way they can think of, from chiselling to melting! Whoever gets their baby out first is the winner!
5 of 115. Oh baby, it’s a playlist!
This is a very simple game on the surface, but harder than you’d think! You will need: Each guests will need a pen and paper
How to play: Each guest must write down as many songs they can think of with the word “baby” in the title. Give the guests a time limit—five minutes max—and whoever has the most (real!) songs written down is the winner!
6 of 116. Guess the baby food
Have you got the stomach for this one?
You will need: Unlabelled jars, baby food, paper and pen for each guest.
How to play: Fill each of your jars with a different kind of baby food (make sure to keep track!) and place them all on the table. Distribute paper and pens to guests, then ask them to smell each bottle and jot down what they think is inside - if you want to make it especially tricky, have them do this blind-folded.

This is a fun pre-party game for your guests to challenge them before the shower.
You will need: String.
How to play: With every invitation, include a small ball of string and a little slip of paper explaining the game—which is to cut the string to the length they think would perfectly fit around mum-to-be’s baby bump. Ask guests to wrap the string around the slip of paper along with their name written on it. Remind everyone to bring it to the party, then, once everyone arrives, you try out all the lengths around her tummy, and whoever was closest to her bump size wins!
8 of 118. We’re having a baby
This is a fun fast pace game for your guests that'll get you giggling.
You will need: Balloons and pins.
How to play: Separate guests into teams of four or five and give a person a balloon. When the host says “go!” the first person from each team must blow up their balloon and put it under their top. Once the first person has done this, the second person on each team does the same, then the third, and so on. Once all team members have balloons under their shirts, the first person must pop their balloon, then the second, and third, etc. The team who blows up and pops their balloons the fastest wins! A good game, but not recommended if you have any tots attending your shower.
9 of 119. Guess the celebrity baby
How good is your knowledge of famous faces? Put it to the test in this game!
You will need: Printed pictures of celebrity children without their famous parents.
How to play: Have guests guess the baby or child. If you're slightly more tech-friendly, create a slideshow of pictures on a computer and save the paper.
10 of 1110. Hello dolly
The mums of the group should have a slight advantage on this one, but it's still anyone's game.
You will need: Blindfold for each guest, baby doll for each guest, nappy for each guest and
babygro for each guest.
How to play: All the guests must stand in line with a doll in front of each of them. The task is to take the doll's nappy off, replace with a new nappy and pull on a babygro - all with no sight!
11 of 1111. Everyone hates a feeder
Save the tasty baby shower buffet and treat your guests to some baby food with this game!
You will need: Aprons or bin bags, blindfolds and pots of baby food.
How to play: Split guests into teams of two, have them cover their clothes with an apron or bin bag and give them blindfolds to wear. One member of the pair then should feed a pot of baby food to their partner. The first pair to successfully empty the pot (into their mouth, not just down their front!) wins.
Tips on planning a baby shower:
• Pick someone you trust - Etiquette says the mum-to-be shouldn't plan her own shower (but if you do want to then go for it!) When deciding on a host, choose a friend or family member you trust to do things your way, and accept you won't have too much input!
• Choose the right time - Most women have their baby showers at around 36 weeks, as by then you have normally finished work, and the arrival of your baby seems imminent! Around two hours is usually a good amount of time.
• Check the guest list - It's ok to keep things small and intimate, but make sure you check the guest list with the mum-to-be first to ensure you've not missed someone important!
• Choose a theme - Think afternoon tea, with some thank-you cupcakes for guests to leave with. If you know the sex of the baby, you can have fun with pink or blue, if not, opt for golds and neutral colours. Or you could take inspiration from the nursery decor, like Olivia Bowen did with her safari themed baby shower.
• Do a baby shower wishlist - Of course, there are some baby essentials that make great baby shower presents, but to avoid everyone turning up with Sophie the Giraffe or Ewan the Sheep, ask the mum-to-be to make a baby shower wish list.
